The new season got off to a brilliant start with the boys playing some super football and winning the Fair Play Award at the Thornhill Festival.
Then our first Saturday saw us out in the sunshine at The Marl squaring up against Llanedeyrn Bulldogs, Grangetown and Lisvane Panthers Black.
We managed a convincing victory against Llanedeyrn, played a tough and challenging game against Grange, and finished off with a club derby against Lisvane Panthers Black who were on great form.
Llanedeyrn 3-0 Charlie, Josh and Jack
Grangetown 0-1
Lisvane Panthers Black 2-1 Rhys
Man of the Match – Elliot Bate

19th Sept took us to Splott Park where we played Calvary Blue, Splott Albion and Ely Rangers.
With a resounding win against Calvary to start, the game against Splott began with the opposition scoring in the first 20 seconds, and again shortly after.
But the boys dug deep and far from feeling defeated, they pulled one back before half time and scored another in the second half to earn a respectable draw.
Buoyed up by this solid performance, they went on to win against Ely, the score not reflecting the hatful of shots they had on target.
Calvary Blue 4-0 Charlie, Luke, Jacob Wara (2)
Splott Albion 2-2 Cole, Rhys
Ely Rangers 0-1 Jacob Wara
Man of the Match Michael Coupar

On the 26th Sept we were back at Llandaf Fields where we faced Heath Park Rangers and Lisvane Panthers Black - again.
This will go down as one of those Saturdays where we just didn’t get it together – whether the lads’ minds were on collecting conkers or they were too busy avoiding dog poo, who knows?!
Suffice to say we lost both games – ‘nuff said, apart from a big well done to Lisvane Panthers Black who played a storming second half and deserved the win…but be warned, we won’t let it happen a third time!
Heath Park 1-4 Rhys
Lisvane Panthers Black 3-2 Jacob Wara, Charlie
Man of the Match Jacob Williams

2nd Oct took us to a rather wet and windy Eglwys Newydd where the boys put the disappointment of the week before firmly behind them and proceeded to play the sort of football that makes a parent’s chest swell with pride.
They listened to their coaches, communicated really well with each other on the pitch, found space, passed beautifully and pulled off three resounding wins!
With compliments from the other coaches ringing in their ears and huge smiles, our tired but jubilant team went home happy bunnies.
Pentyrch Reds 3-1 Charlie, Zac, Mikey
Whitchurch AFC 1-0 Charlie
Cyncoed Lads 5-1 Charlie (2), Felix, Jack, Jacob Wara
Man of the Match Charlie Allan
So, on the whole, the new season is shaping up rather nicely.
A big thank you from all the parents to Vladka and Paul who are doing a super job, both coaching on a Thursday and giving encouragement and instruction from the sidelines on Saturdays.
No pressure, but I am keeping Sir Alex (aka Rolf) up to date with your progress and sending him video evidence of your performance ready for mid season coach appraisals in the New Year…

Back to Splott Park where we played Maindy White and Splott Albion for the second time this season.
Llanedeyrn Bulldogs couldn’t make it again, so between the 3 teams we put together some mix ‘n’ match sides to play some friendly games to fill in the time.
Our first match against Maindy was a hard earned win - going one up in the first half, we defended well to hold on to our lead in the second.
The boys were a bit more concerned about playing Splott as the last time we played them, we only just managed to hold them to a draw.
Splott fielded the same strong team this week, and we played a very energetic first half which ended 2 all.
With some fresh legs for us in the second half, we continued to defend really well and managed to get the clincher! Well done to all the boys for their effort – they played some lovely football and did us all proud again.
Special mention to Josh who was really focussed and did some superb defending today, and finally a big welcome and well done to Nathan – first match today and it felt like you’ve always been with us!
Maindy White 1-0 Cole
Splott Albion 3-2 Jacob Wara, Mikey, Charlie
Man of the Match Josh Ashton

Our first home game of the season and we thought we would write our first match report of the season.
The boys were in good spirits and after looking at the shirts nicknamed themselves the “pumpkins” to celebrate Halloween.
Our first game was against Marshfield with the usual slow start from the boys, however as the half progressed we grew stronger and managed to score the first goal just before half time.
The second half started with a second Panthers goal however Marshfield scored two quick goals before we scored an excellent goal to win the game.
The second game against Cyncoed started well with a quick goal, however Cyncoed equalised from a free kick.
We dug deep and put in maximum effort to take a commanding lead through 4 quick goals, however Cyncoed managed a consolation goal just before the end.
Marshfield 2 -3 Pat, Max, Ryan
Cyncoed 2 – 5 Alex (3), Daniel, James
(Dave & James Price)
