Annual Reports

Under 9 Orange 2009/2010

The 2009/10 season has been another successful campaign for the boys. Whilst results did not always go our way every squad player has improved in their football skills.

Again much of winter months were washed out due to the weather which was a frustration but when the games were played the boys were totally committed and always gave 100%.

Ben Edwards and Luc Williamson were predominantly the goalkeepers throughout the year and gave some outstanding performances between the sticks, they both showed their versatility by playing in the midfield when needed.

In defence Tom Harrison, Sam Morgan and newcomer Rory Jones were solid making it difficult for sides to score against us.

Llyr Cox and another newcomer Rhys Osborne showed their versatility slotting into both defensive and midfield roles improving their skills as the season progressed.

Max Sewell and Jacob Macario demonstrated their versatility by playing in all positions always giving 100%, both players improving on their skills significantly from the previous season Ollie Beere had another fine year moving from defence to Midfield whilst the final new addition to the squad Ceri Griffiths proved to be a real star scoring a great goal on his debut for the Panthers.

Elis Golding put in some outstanding performances throughout the year and the glancing header scored against Urdd in December would undoubtedly be a contender for goal of the season.

Up front Mason Lowery, Cieran Lee and Owain Taylor continued to score goals whilst also developing a greater understanding of the skills required to play in this position.

Notable victories were recorded against Urdd, Ely and Danescourt.

The season is not over as the boys have three tournaments in Undy, Marshfield and Brackla (where they won all their games last year) to look forward to.

I would like to thank all the parents for their continued support and Lewin Macario for their very kind sponsorship of the boys new kit.

Under 9 Black 2009/2010

A super second season for the under 9 Blacks with the whole team continuing to work hard on the pitch and in training which resulted in many more wins than losses and some spectacular goals along the way.

Over the summer Ryan and Daniel joined coupled with Will joining mid season kept the team strong and maintained our big and friendly squad.

The season started slowly but after a few games we adjusted to the higher standard and started to play consistently well, passing the ball, becoming more disciplined in holding to the allocated positions and most importantly scoring more goals.

The enthusiasm continued throughout a season heavily disrupted by the weather with the team showing a passion to play through rain, wind, snow and even some sunshine.

All the players improved their skills during the season during the many competitive games, which saw some terrific goals, saves, tackles and dribbles.

It was particularly good to see the commitment to defending improve and some great attacking passes and crosses. Everyone deserves an award for the way in which they played and the team spirit they have shown.

Well done and thank you – Dave, Kieran, Gethin, Jane, Marie, Mark and everyone else who has helped this season.

Alex Kinsey: Alex’s powerful play continued on from last season with many exciting runs with the ball and shots leading to many goals. Alex was equally determined in both attacking and winning back the ball and was always a reliable goalkeeper.

Dominic O’Brien: One of the team’s most enthusiastic players whose tackling, shooting and passing skills had an impact in many games making him a key member of the team.

Daniel Austin: Daniel showed great ball control and skills to have many excellent runs with the ball and was also a very determined tackler who won the ball for the team on many occasions with his tenacity.

Will Rayer: Will joined mid season and made an immediate impact with strong tackling and good runs with the ball.

Evan Wallace: Evan had a great season with some superb tackling and runs out of defence and midfield. A very strong tackler with great control and a powerful shot.

James Price: James was an ever present throughout the season with his strong running, determined tackling and good goalkeeping he was an asset to the team.

Joseph Shaw: Joseph was a keen player who played well in midfield and attack whilst being strong in defence when required, always willing to play any position he is a great team member.

Joseph Williams With his good control, strong running and great passing it was a good season for Joseph who played equally well in all positions

Ryan Federico: Ryan had a great season and did a great job in all positions making some great tackles and runs with the ball.

Max Lane: With a good turn of speed Max made a number of penetrating runs and is a determined tackler. Happy to play in all positions with a positive attitude and a big smile.

Owain Edwards: Superb control of the ball and a great crosser of the ball make him an asset to the team. A good tackler and an accurate shot led to a number of long range goals.

Patrick Thomas: Excellent ball control and good turn of pace led to goals throughout the season coupled with good defensive skills.

Thomas Plaut: Gives his utmost with a smile in all positions. Has good control and is a determined tackler, which makes him a great player to have on the team.

Tom Powell: Tom is a strong player with lots of speed and stamina who has a big impact on the games. Always keen to utilise his long throw in and an excellent goalkeeper he is a very versatile player.

William Mably: Will has good control of the ball and likes to make strong runs from midfield whilst always willing to defend and has made some great saves as goalkeeper making him a strong all rounder.

Under 9 Blue 2009/2010

The Blues’ season got off to a cracking start with them winning the Fair Play Award at the Thornhill tournament in September – a great boost for ‘old’ and new players alike to play so well together on their first outing.

Both coaches and parents have been well impressed with the boys throughout the season as they’ve displayed great attitude and behaviour.

They’ve trained with enthusiasm, listening and concentrating, then trying out what they’ve learned on the pitch on Saturdays.

It has been a pleasure to watch them grow both in terms of skill and confidence.

We’ve enjoyed many wins during the season, learned many lessons when we didn’t and had lots of fun and success at the summer tournaments.

We’ve encouraged the boys to play in all positions and a few of them have found where they like to play best.

Again this season, Elliot has done a sterling job in goal.

Luckily, we’ve also got willing back up from Nathan who is happy to swap being up front when needed.

We have naturally strong and capable defenders in Zac, Tom and Jacob.

Midfield we are lucky to have a good balance of attacking and defensive players, and of course, they all love to be striker!

Rhys and Jack are very reliable going forward, as are Josh, Luke, Felix and Sonny and Mikey and Charlie are not alone in their burning desire to score goals.

During the season, we said goodbye to two great players, Cole and Jacob Wara, and welcomed three very capable, new players – Saif, Ryhan and Evan – who have fitted into the side really well.

At the end of this season, we’ll say goodbye to Tom as well – we’ll miss you and wish you the best of luck and lots of fun in your new rugby team.

Finally, a few thank you’s…firstly to Joe for getting us indoor training last winter – what a huge difference that made!

To parents and siblings who’ve braved the wind, rain and mud, week after week and provided encouragement and biscuits on the sidelines.

To Paul and Vladka for all their effort and commitment to training and matchdays – they make it look easy, but we know it’s not really!

Also for the quiet words of praise and encouragement they give to the players individually to help them learn and grow.

And last but by no means least, to the boys themselves – for working hard, playing fair and making us all very proud of them. Enjoy the summer break and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September.
