Under 12 A Division
Lisvane Panthers A: 2 - Radyr Rangers: 3
Venue: Heol Y Delyn
A first minute strike and late equaliser were not enough to secure a result against a fluent and combative Radyr outfit who struck the winner with minutes remaining.
Strong Panthers performances all over the pitch ensured that this opening league match went to the wire.
Goals were scored by Toby and Nye.

Ely Rangers: 6 - Lisvane Panthers: 2 (Josh, Sam G)
Venue: Trelai
HT: 2 - 1
The side's focus will now return to the League as a fluent Ely side gained early revenge for their League defeat by Panthers two weeks' ago.
Panthers never took command of blustery conditions despite taking an early lead.

AFC Rumney : 6 - Lisvane Panthers A: 1 (Nye)
Venue: Rumney
HT: 2 - 0
Another glorious Saturday morning saw Panthers fail to come to terms with the size of the Rumney pitch and the fluent passing and movement of the home side.

Radyr Rangers: 5 - Lisvane Panthers: 1 (Josh)
Venue: Gwaelod y Garth
HT: 2 - 1
A determined and committed Panthers performance against the indomitable league leaders.
Radyr's dominance was briefly broken either side of half time before they turned possession into goals for a deserved win.
Josh's cool finish to a well worked move was the highlight of Panthers' morning.

Splott Albion: 4 - Lisvane Panthers: 8 (Sam G (3), Josh (2), Joe, Nye, og)
Venue: Splott Park
HT: 6 - 2
An entertaining match played in good spirits in damp conditions.
Panthers overcame an early set back to establish a commanding first-half lead, including a Sam G hat-trick and Joe's first strike of the season.
Two further strikes in the second half secured the points.

Pentwyn Dynamo: 2 - Lisvane Panthers: 6 (Josh (3), Toby, Lewis, og)
Venue: Roath Rec
HT: 1 - 1
A tight first-half fragmented by offside decisions saw a well-drilled Pentwyn share the spoils before Panthers, driven on by Jack's marauding runs down the left, eventually found their rhythm and took control in the second period.

Lisvane Panthers A: 1 - Ely Rangers: 5 (Toby)
Venue: Heol y Delyn
HT: 1 - 1
Panthers defended stoically in a game dominated by a fluent Ely side and held them at bay until tired legs got the better of them late in the second half.
Toby's strike before the break showed great awareness at a "Butcher-Carson" moment of rare defensive fraility and was scant reward for the boys' efforts.

Under 12 A Division
Lisvane Panthers A: 1 - Splott: 3 (Josh)
Venue: Heol y Delyn
HT: 0 - 2
A well-organised Splott side arrived at a cold and wet Heol-y-Delyn determined to gain revenge for their 4-8 reverse from earlier in the season.
Panthers started brightly but were disappointed to concede two well finished breakaway goals before the interval.
The Splott defence held out bravely against a barrage of attacks in the second half before yet another calmly finished counter attack extended their lead.
Josh chipped home confidently just before the end to provide some consolation for a match dominated by the home side.

Lisvane Panthers A: 1 - St Albans: 5 (Adam)
Venue: Heol y Delyn
HT: 0 - 5
All credit to the coaches, parents and players for their efforts to make the pitch playable for the first match since 29th November.
The heavy surface suited a strong and mobile St Albans side but Panthers will have been disappointed to go into the break five down.
A Fergusson-esque half-time team talk led to an inspired second period which saw Adam rewarded for Panthers' domination and a clean sheet for a dogged defence.
Both sides should be praised for their spirit and endeavour on a miserable morning and on a pitch better suited to bog-snorkelling.

St Albans 1 - Lisvane Panthers: 2 (Josh 2)
Venue: Tremorfa Park
HT: 0 - 1
Credit to both sides for a keenly contested match in frozen conditions.
Josh latched on to Greg’s through ball and his delicate chip gave Panthers a narrow first half advantage. The lead was increased early in the second half when Josh bundled home a goal-mouth scramble.
St Albans pressed hard and were rewarded when Panthers failed to clear effectively leaving Panthers with a nervous final quarter to survive.
Chances were squandered by both sides before the referee called time on an exciting and well-tempered encounter.

Lisvane Panthers A: 5 – Rumney: 3 (Nye 2, Josh 2, Sam Wm)
Venue: Heol-y-Delyn
HT: 3 - 2
In only the second match of 2009 and with a squad limited to a bare eleven players including both 'keepers, the coaches might have hoped for a less daunting challenge than that posed by second-placed Rumney, 6-1 victors in October’s reverse fixture.
The players had other thoughts as they carved their way through the Rumney defence to gain a justified 3-0 lead within fifteen minutes. Precision through balls presented first Nye and then Josh (2) with openings and the pacey strikers delighted the crowd with decisive finishes.
This Rumney side are not well-placed in the league without reason and they forced their way back into the match with two goals before half-time.
An early second period strike brought them level and the visitors were threatening to take control against the tiring Panthers.
Defending with incredible commitment and with the game on knife-edge, the eleven Panthers hauled themselves back into contention and were rewarded when Nye’s finish from close range gave them the advantage.
With the game coming to a close and parents' fingernails scattered all along the touchline, the performance was capped by Sam Wm’s incredible 30-yard shot from a tight angle which nestled in the far top corner of the net.
A fine team performance against one of the stronger sides in the league. Special mention should be made of the defensive efforts of Alex, Ben, Joe, Lewis, Sam A and Sam Wb, the tireless running of Cap'n Adam and Jack and the spirit and determination of all eleven players.

AFC Whitchurch YC: 4 – Lisvane Panthers A: 1 (Josh(pen))
Venue: Maes-y-Coed Road
HT: 1 - 0
A strong and well-organised Whitchurch outfit took early control of this match and ensured that this Panthers team were unable to repeat their recent success against Rumney.
1 - 0 up at the break, the home side continued to dominate and doubled their lead early in the second-half.
A rare sojourn into the opposition half provided the opportunity for Josh to confidently slam home a penalty to halve the deficit.
Whitchurch were not finished, however, and closed the game out with two late strikes.

Marlboro Sports: 1 – Lisvane Panthers A: 4 (Nye 3, Ciaran)
Venue: Roath Rec
HT: 0 - 2
On a glorious spring morning a full Panthers squad took on a determined Marlboro side.
Early chances were squandered before Nye bagged the opener and then provided the finish on a fluent passing movement involving Sam Wb, Jack and Josh from deep within the Panthers' half.
As both sides wilted in rising temperatures, Marlboro’s hopes were ignited with a reply early in the second-half before Nye claimed his hat-trick. Ciaran coolly added a fourth to make the result safe.

Maindy: 2 – Lisvane Panthers A: 4 (Joshua 4)
Venue: Blackweir
HT: 1 - 0
A compelling encounter between two well-matched sides saw Maindy enter the half-time break a single goal ahead despite the best efforts of the Panthers’ strike force to beat a home ‘keeper in inspired form.
An inspirational team-talk (and glug of whatever Craig puts in those bottles) later, a transformed Panthers soon found themselves level through Joshua’s neat finish from a tight angle.
The visitors started to gain the upper hand as Joshua netted again and then found the far corner with a precise free-kick.
Maindy battled bravely and the result was far from settled when they brought the score to 2-3.
The hard working Panthers were not to be denied, however, and Joshua’s virtuoso second-half performance was capped with the deciding fourth goal late on.

Lisvane Panthers: 2 – Maindy: 1 (Nye, Sam Wm)
Venue: Heol-y-Delyn
HT: 1 - 1
Once again, a Panthers side restricted to the bare eleven players demonstrated their strength in adversity as they took on an organised Maindy side for the second game running.
The visitors took an early lead in another compelling first-half, before Nye benefitted from a hesitant defence to draw Panthers level at half-time.
Rampaging Sam Wm surged forward from midfield to give Panthers the advantage early in the second half.
The home side’s hopes of repeating last week’s second-half goal spree were dented when localised red mist descended upon their diminutive striker and they lost his services.
Undaunted by the growing challenge, the Panthers' defence and midfield worked tirelessly to keep the visitors out.
At the other end, another inspired performance from the Maindy ‘keeper prevented a wider winning margin.

Lisvane Panthers: 8 – Marlborough: 0 (Toby, Sam Wm, Sam G, Josh (4), Will)
Venue: Heol-y-Delyn
HT: 5 - 0
Panthers edged closer to the end of a fine season with a comprehensive win in their penultimate match against a determined Marlborough outfit.
A Toby thunderbolt started the scoring, followed by strikes from Sam Wm, Sam G, Josh(4) and a first goal of the season for stalwart Will, ghosting up the field from right-back.
Skipper Adam gave an assured performance between the sticks in his first match as ‘keeper as Marlborough threatened for the duration of the match .

Lisvane Panthers: 4 – Whitchurch: 0 (Joe, Josh 2, Toby (pen))
Venue: Heol-y-Delyn
HT: 3 - 0
Panthers ended the season on a high with a reverse of their disappointing 4-1 March mauling against a competitive Whitchurch outfit.
The early stages were dominated by the visitors but Panthers’ defence of Alex, Ben, Joe, Lewis, Sam Wb and Will defended doggedly and refused to give them the advantage.
A rare foray into Whitchurch territory was rewarded when Joe blasted in from short range at a corner. Pushing forward for the equaliser, the Whitchurch defence was breached twice by slide rule passes from Toby allowing Josh to drop his shoulder, round the ‘keeper and score to bring the half-time advantage to 3-0.
An even second half saw sub ‘keeper Sam A thwart a procession of long shots as the visitors sought to claw their way back into the match.
The victory was sealed when a clever bye-line run by Josh was abruptly ended, presenting Toby with a duly, if belatedly, despatched penalty.
Panthers have ended the season in a creditable fourth spot in the final analysis. Victories have been secured against every opposition side save for runaway champions Radyr.
Every squad member has contributed significantly to a season characterised by one or two lows, but many more highs, as the lads took their first tentative steps into “proper football”.
The boys have been a credit to the Lisvane Panthers Junior Football Club, to their families and to the hard-working Clough/Taylor-esque management team of Craig and Cliff.
