Annual Reports
Under 9 Orange 2006/2007
After the success of last year the players continued to improve
and enjoyed their football even more this season. The skill and
effort has been first class this year.
Now that the season is over
we can reflect on how hard the players have trained and played at
the weekend. Juan and I have enjoyed coaching, enjoying the
steady progression throughout the team.
During the season, we have come very close and beaten the
stronger teams we have played. We have had good weekends
when we have scored good goals against stronger teams and then
lost against teams that we should have beaten by a few goals.
The
players especially enjoy the local derby matches against the
Lisvane Red and Lisvane Blacks and these matches always bring
a great atmosphere along with capacity crowds!
We have always tried to enter the local tournaments as these are
generally well run and are good fun for the players.
We are already looking forward to next season and have already
recruited well, adding a number of players to the core group from
this season.
The parents have again been fantastic throughout the season;
theyve supported the team week in week out, and have always
given great vocal support! At match days it really helps motivate
the players.
Many thanks to all the team and parents for your efforts and
support for the coaches and many congratulations for this year
too...the best is still to come next season!
Under 9 Black 2006/2007
With our first season at under 8 successfully completed the lads
embarked on their journey into under 9 territory. With all the
teams now playing in the same age group it quickly became
apparent that the days of 10-0 wins were long gone,
goals being noticeably harder to come by this season.
The emphasis this season was about team play, and passing
play, the major coaching challenge to the players (and indeed to
our band of loyal parents) being that whilst winning was obviously
the preferred outcome, the results were secondary at this stage of
our football progression.
This season saw us play a number of new teams for the first
time Fairwater, for example, who came out from the first whistle
with fantastic pace and shocked the Black team with their passing
game and intelligent running off the ball. This fresh blood and
increased competition can only be good for the team.
This season overall was as successful the as last but with fewer
goals scored and one or two notable losses - to Llanrumney in our
first outing of the season, Fairwater whom we never had the
opportunity to redress the balance against, Llanishen Dons for the
first time on grass (well done lads and Tony) and Thornhill (but
only as Steve knight was not there to see it; sorry mate).
The loss of my internet access towards the end of last season,
coupled with Bryan's genetic inability to complete a match report,
means that I am unable to give definitive win/loss figures as I
would like. However, to sum up, we lost a few, drew a few, won
plenty, scored around 95 goals and conceded a lot less than that!
The more important information to share is that our squad has
improved both in nature and attitude over the course of the
season with each and every player getting onto the score sheet
Connor Flynn leaving it to the very last game to tap one past the
keeper.
Equally importantly, our boys are starting to mature now and are
becoming better team players.
We have Sebastian (Maradona) Davies who as our regular goal
keeper proving how good he is with ball in hand - Seb showed his
rounded skill set by by very often also handballing in our
oppositions box!
Our defence consist of a rotation of Hugo Souto, who I think is
promised money for every goal he scores (semi pro) although I'm
not sure if his Dad actually pays up. Hugo is naturally a left footer
whose speed and balance is sometimes breathtaking, and who in
addition to his defensive abilities, has pulled many a match saving
goal out of the bag this season with his amazing runs, that gets
everybody watching excitedly. The fact that we have got Hugo to
pass sometimes this season too is even more breathtaking!.
Ethan (the back flip) Grant whose goal celebration we have seen
so little of unfortunately. Ethan really wants to play in midfield but
is such a formidable right back it is hard to move him at this time.
To Michael (they shall not pass) Gooding, who throughout this
season has gained more and more consistency in his play and
over the last few weeks of the season played outstandingly well in
defence showing some good composure when he found himself
often against two or three attackers. Michael has also netted
himself half a dozen goals or so throughout the season too (I am
sure Michaels diary will correct me if I have his goal tally wrong).
The final members of the defensive squad are Daniel (is it time for
me to go on now?) Melhuish who again has shown the flexibility
to play in several positions this season pulling off some fantastic
displays as well as getting a match winning goal in one match this
season.
And Connor Flynn who again has
risen to the challenge this season and who had an unbeatable smile when he scored his
only goal of the season in the very last match of the season too,
well done Connor we knew it was there all along.
We have an exceptionally strong midfield outfit, formidable in
every game for their slick passing and attacking play. Led from the
centre of the pack by Daniel (I'm not very angry) Pike, quick,
aggressive and a fantastic tackle with an engine to match always
reliable in a defensive role to make the run back and challenge
hard to win the ball too.
On the right we then have Joshua (Thierry
Henry) Moore, another player with more pace than most can
handle , with excellent balance to match full of skillful running
often creating goal chances from way out too!.
On our left mid we
have Conor (the silent assassin) Hughes again full of running, a
natural left footer with very good balance who has shown this
season that he knows how to take goals as well as as create them.
Along with our new found midfield player this season Sean (was
that a shot or a cross) Bartlett, who has proved to be a fantastic
link player moving from a central defensive position last season to
a more central midfield link role during this. Sean proved to be
worth his weight in gold with the way his corner taking and free
kicks developed toward the end of the season offering us
opportunity after opportunity, and we look forward to developing
this next season too.
Finally to our striker Joshua (Maradona spin) Caswell who has
become quite a finisher this season scoring with both his natural
right and his weaker left racking up around 30 goals this season
as well as scoring with his head - as did a number of his team
mates, which is nice to see at this level.
Finally we have the support of our parents, who religiously give
the coaches a vote of confidence after every defeat - their support
is much appreciated.
Seriously our parents turn up week in week
out rain, or shine. And it is great to see that amongst our dads we
have so many avid readers as whether we train at Tal y Bont or
Court Field they always find the need to leave the training session
to visit the local library to read a book or two (so they tell me!)
Once again though Bryan and I would like to thank our players ,
our parents, the club and our competitors for another successful
season of mini football.
Every boy has matured and improved
significantly over the last two years and we have no doubt that
the boys and the team will continue to develop.
We hope that you
are all enjoying your well deserved break from the action, and we
look forward to seeing you all, duly refreshed, next season.

Thornhill Festival
On Sunday the 10th of September the Lisvane black under 9 team played in the Thornhill festival. We were placed in a group with Pentyrch, Thornhill Aqua and Cwrt Rawling. Our opening game against Cwrt Rawling was a tough battle and the boys let the opposition dictate the way the game was played eventually loosing the game 1-0.
Our second game against Pentyrch was also a tough battle against a team that we would normally beat quite easily, the boys struggled to perform to their normal standard although securing a 2-0 win
Our last game was against the Thornhill Aqua team which again proved tough for the boys! the team going down to two early goals . Barely showing signs of their form of last season they managed to get a goal back but by now time was against us, and we lost the game 2-1.
These results left us 3rd out of 4 in our group which led us to play against our orange team, again we struggled against the opposition who put in a brave performance allowing us to win the game 1-0
Finally we played the Thornhill Blue team and at last we started to show that we really do have some ability. we dominated the game and came away worthy winners with a 2-0 win.

Lisvane Orange: 4 - HEOL HIR YC A: 0
The start of the season could not have been better for Lisvane Panthers. From the very first minute the kids took control of the match given very little options to Heol Hir YC to the point that Alex Boyd, our always brave goalkeeper, was just another spectator. First goal of the match was for Gordon Lai from close range who also scored the fourth goal for the team completing an impressive debut this season. Joshua Moore with a smooth touch scored the second goal following a good pass from Alex Maldonado. The second half was very similar to the first one with Alex creating constant danger amongst the defenders and scoring the third goal. Our defence was also excellent, James Solomon, Joseph Aziz and Jake Boyd all put a lot of determination on every challenge and all of them were well lead by Owen Dawes who was man of the match for his good work and brilliant game as skipper.
Lisvane man of the match - Owen Dawes
Lisvane Orange: 3 - PENTYRCH RANGERS RED: 0
Another very good performance given by the team. We introduced a few changes but that did not seem to affect the overall result which is encouraging. Everybody worked really hard, very concentrated in the match and helping each other. It is difficult to talk about an individual player when the whole team plays so well and everybody contributes to the victory. Well done to Gordon Lai who scored twice on this match, and to Alex Le Grys who scored the third goal (which was followed by his particular but entertaining goal celebration!). Alex Maldonado deserves being man of the match for his impressive work during the whole match.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Maldonado
Lisvane Orange: 0 - EGLWYS NEWYDD: 2
The way the boys and coaches of Eglwys Newydd celebrated the final whistle gives an indication of what happened on this match. They deserved the victory however we dominated most of the game and could have scored in a few occasions. All the hard work put by the boys during the first two matches had its toll and by the end of the first half we were very tired. Still the team never gave up and put their defence and goal keeper under constant pressure. We had countless occasions to score but this time we did not manage to do that. All the credit to the boys from Eglwys Newydd because they were very dangerous in attack and showed excellent team work in defence. Despite our defeat on several times we linked 6 and 7 passes in a way that I have not seen it on other teams of the same age group. Joshua Moore deserves greatly to be man of the match for his very good performance and hard work on all three matches.
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Playing like we played on Saturday, very focused, working hard for each other, running, passing, tackling, etc not only was very pleasurable to watch but good fun for all involved (players, parents and coaches). It is also going to make Lisvane Panthers Orange a team very difficult to play against this season. Congratulations to all players and let's carry on training with the same passion!
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers U9 Black
The Black team's first game of the season was against a much improved St Albans team; at Moorland park for the first time. The boys seemed to slip back in to last seasons form of attacking passing play and took an early lead from Daniel Pike, This was quickly followed by goals from Conor Hughes, Joshua Caswell and Hugo Souto to give us a 4-0 win to start the season.
Our 2nd game was against our good rivals Llanishen Dons who had performed very very well at the Thornhill comp the previous week. The game was the usual tough game but with some of the Dons players not finding the venue on time, Lisvane took an advantage and took a two goal lead in the first half with goals from Joshua Moore and Conor Hughes again. The Dons came back with a goal in the second half but a goal from Hugo Souto secured us a 3-1 win in a well fought game.
Our final game of the day was against our competition in our last game of last season, Llanrumney, who prove to be very physical on the pitch with some big players. The game was hard fought with lots of hard challenges. Llanrumney took a lead in the second half which Lisvane failed to match giving Llanrumney a well deserved win. well done guys , but we'll be back!!!!!!!
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers U9 Red
A fantastic opening day to the new season for this brand new Lisvane Under 9 side. Every single player was a credit to the club and I am looking forward to enjoying the rest of the season with these lads. Our first match saw us get a credible draw from a strong Llanedeyrn Bulldogs side who went 1-0 up in the first half but a great 2nd half fighting display saw us grab a deserved equaliser scored by Ellery Thomas and we were unlucky not to win the game.
The second game was a joy to watch. Every single player working hard for each other saw us gain a comfortable 4-1 win against Canton Rangers with 2 goals from Ellery Thomas and 2 from Callum Bricknell. Some superb defending by Luke Parker, Peter Goodwin & Oliver Taylor kept us in control and Harrison Trinder in goal made some fantastic saves. Osian Barr Franco & Antonio Campo in midfield were very strong and helped us win the game comfortably.
After 2 great performances and quite a hot morning it was understandable that the boys would be tired. However they did not disgrace themselves at all during the last game although we came out of the game with a 3-1 defeat against a good Grangetown BC side.
Every player and the supporting families deserves a pat on the back. Well done boys !!

Lisvane Orange 0 - Thornhill Red 2
It was not our best start playing a poor first half allowing Thornhill to be a constant danger in our area. As a result, after the first five minutes we were two goals down with a prospect of a big defeat. However the kids turned things around and we dominated the second half with great determination and good work. Good second half for Joshua Moore and Gordon Lai both leading the team. Also our defence was good in this second half, so well done to Owen Dawes, Jake Boyd and Joseph Aziz and especially to our goalkeeper Alex Boyd who once again had a great match and made lots of good saves during the three matches.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Boyd
Lisvane Orange 0 - Marlboro Black 1
Our most difficult match on Saturday was against a very good Marlboro Black. The boys were brilliant from the first minute, playing with the same spirit and courage as last Saturday. Either team could have scored as all the players were showing excellent skills controlling and passing the ball, taking on players and making good runs with the ball. The game was very enjoyable to watch with lots of good chances created in both areas. Unfortunately they took the lead and we didn't manage to equalise. Good performance from Faris Taleb and Alex Le Grys. Our midfielders are having a great start to the season in particular Joshua Moore and Alex Maldonado taking on their shoulders the responsibility of the game when needed. The whole team worked very hard and played very good football, well done boys.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Maldonado
Lisvane Orange 4 - Heath Park Rangers 1
Despite the result this was not an easy match. We did not play as well as against Marlboro Blacks and yet within a few minutes we scored twice. Alex Le Grys with a couple of magic touches and a nice semi-volley scored the first goal, our second goal was for Joseph Aziz who pushed the ball into the net after a long distance shoot from Alex Maldonado. Heath Park Rangers came back and put us under significant pressure and after a corner we scored an own goal before the end of the first half. At the beginning of the second half we scored again after a good combination between Alex Maldonado and Joseph who converted his second. Just a few seconds earlier, they missed a clear chance when the ball, luckily for us, went straight to the post. That proved too much for them and later we claimed a fourth goal by Gordon Lai.

Lisvane Panthers U9 Black
Our first game today was against a vastly improved Fairwater side, who started the game with a flurry, they came out from the first whistle with a very fast passing game that took the blacks by surprise. With the Lisvane midfield playing to deep in the Fairwater half, our defence was taken apart, and they took a 3-0 lead in the first half of the game . In the second half the Blacks found a bit more form and put Fairwater under a lot of pressure, giving them very little chance to increase their lead. Goals from Conor Hughes and Hugo Souto brought us back into the game only to be beaten by the final whistle.
FINAL SCORE LPFC 2 - FAIRWATER 3
Our second game of the day was against Ty Celyn, during this game the Blacks put their opponents under severe pressure, with our defence learning a hard lesson from the previous game. Clearing every ball with ease and moving themselves up to attacking positions. By half time the score was 3-0 to the Blacks and by the final whistle the score was 6-0 to the Blacks. The score line not really showing the opportunities we had in front of goal. Taking nothing away from the Ty Celyn goal keeper who took so many shots off the line well denying us a bigger winning margin. Goal scorers were Michael Gooding (header), Hugo Souto, Joshua Moore (2. 1 being a long range free kick) and Joshua Caswell(2)
FINAL SCORE LPFC 6 - TY CELYN 0
Our final game of the morning was against a much improved Heol Hir BC, again the Blacks put in a good performance in both halves of the game but were unable to capitalise on chances created in front of goal, and with many many corners this was a little disappointing. The only goal of the game came from a defensive clearance from Connor Flynn on top of his game at the moment down the right hand side to a waiting Joshua Caswell who duly left the diving keeper little chance to stop a big right into the top corner of the goal.
FINAL SCORE LPFC 1- HEOL HIR 0
As coaches Bryan and I have decided to play a system of football where the team are given individual tasks to complete during the game, we are also encouraging the lads to play a passing game of football and not to worry about the results of the matches too much. With a good team performance taking preference to big goal difference win. The matches have shown over the last two weeks that this is something that the team have the potential to do quite easily, and it will be interesting to see how we develop as a team over the season.

Lisvane Orange 1 - Danescourt YC 2
I think we can all say that we have had better starts, I put it down to putting our star players out of position, putting our star striker in defence was properly not the best coaching decision of the day. There were a few occasions in the first half when we didn't have any defenders in our own half, while Danescourt had at least 3 players attacking. It was only down to some brave Goal keeping from Alex Boyd that they didn't manage to score more goals. The second half started a little better with a couple of POSITIONAL changes we appeared to look more balanced and composed with the ball at our feet!!!, a special mention to Ieuan who took his goal well after closing down Danescourt defenders, and chased the ball a lot more in the second half.
Lisvane man of the match - Ieuan Wilkins
Lisvane Orange 0 - Fairwater Juniors 5
Lisvane have probably never played like they have against Fairwater before, and they may not play like they did again. In past matches we have come up against better teams and have battled well and even beaten some of the better teams, but Fairwater won't have an easier game again this year. The result speaks for itself!!
Lisvane man of the match - No Man of the match.
Lisvane Orange 2 - Grange BC Blues 0
This game had every thing going for it and from the kick off Lisvane passed, ran, chased and tackled. Even the supporters made a difference, record attendance 16 + 2 dogs!!!, Grange played some good football and had some good shots but could not score the goals they needed to keep them in the match. Alex Maldonado, James Salamon and Joshua Moore (get well soon!!) covered every bit of the pitch and this made the difference between the two teams which created the openings for Ieuan Wilkins and Alex Le Grys to score good goals.
Lisvane man of the match – Alex Le Grys
We saw both sides to the Oranges football today, if they pass, chase, tackle and run the chances will come and they will win more matches against stronger opposition, but if they don’t they will loose more matches against weaker teams. A special thank you to Mike Salamon for helping out with the refereeing.
Well Done Panthers!!!!

Lisvane Orange: 1 - Maindy Red: 1
Normally, games we play against Maindy are difficult ones and today was no an exception. We started a bit below our normal level resulting in Maindy taking the lead soon after kick off. Within five minutes in the game we “woke up” and started to play like we’ve been playing recently. Second half was really good and exciting, we put Maindy under pressure and after a good combination between Alex Maldonado and Joshua Moore the ball arrived to Gordon Lai who scored a great goal taking on players as they came and finishing with style. Anybody who had seen the kids jumping and cheering after the goal would have thought that we had won the world cup, but in all fairness they were putting in a lot of effort and hard work. Maindy however had the last chance of the match but when everybody thought they were going to score, Alex Boyd made the save of the season claiming a well deserved draw for Lisvane.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Boyd
Lisvane Orange: 1 - Thornhill White: 1
Another bad start and another 'come back' for Lisvane. Kids, I do not know why you like to make it difficult for yourselves sometimes! The truth is that the team showed a lot of courage and determination. The way the boys are passing the ball is fantastic and everybody is contributing highly to the good performance of the team this year. Alex Maldonado scored from a corner taken by Joshua who played yet another good match attacking and also in defence. Our boys at the back were also very good, led by Owen Dawes (heading the ball superbly!), Joseph Aziz, Jake Boyd and Faris Taleb played very well in defence. Very enjoyable match to watch, well done Panthers!
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange: 3 (4) - Grange Claret: 3
Of course we could not start in a different way, two goals down in a poor first half. … The best despite the big effort and hard work made in the two previous matches was just about to come. In a fantastic second half Gordon Lai and Joshua Moore (like a good captain has to do) took on the responsibility and carried the team on their shoulders creating occasion after occasion. Gordon who had today his best Saturday so far since joining Panthers scored another great goal. Seconds after, Ieuan Wilkins finished with a great kick after a set of shots in front of their goalkeeper which never seem to end. Straight after Alex Maldonado “scored” a third goal with a good shot from the left side… Now, initially the referee claimed that the ball did not go over the goal line, however after match “replays” plus comments from several witnesses (including Grange Claret supporters) proved that the ball did clearly go in resulting in this third goal to be counted as good...at least for Lisvane official results ;-) We even scored a fourth goal from a typical Alex Le Grys kick but on this occasion the referee had blown the whistle just a few seconds before due to hand ball from one of Grange Claret players... (don't worry Alex, I will still count this goal on your personal records). In the last few minutes and when most of our players kept attacking they scored a third goal leaving the final score 'even'Lisvane man of the match - Ieuan Wilkins
Great Saturday, great fun, great football and a lot of passion and determination on each game ... congratulations boys and thank you!Captain for next week - Joshua Moore

Lisvane Panthers U9 Black
Our first game of the day was against a very good Ely Rangers team who came out battling from the very first whistle. The game was closely fought with both teams attacking the goals . This was the case well into the second half when the deadlock was broken with a goal from in form Conor Hughes. With some fantastic goal keeping from Sebastian Davies for Lisvane we managed to maintain our lead and win the game 1-0.
LPFC BLACK: 1 - ELY RANGERS: 0
The second match was against the newly formed Marshfield side, who again impressed with their passing game. Lisvane managed to pass the ball skillfully in this game and put the Marshfield keeper under a lot of pressure. Fortunately for them he did his team proud and protected his goal well. The deadlock was broken again in the second half with a goal from Joshua Moore to win us the game 1-0.
LPFC BLACK: 1 - MARSHFIELD: 0
Our last game of the day was against St Albans. The Lisvane boys put lots of passes together and played their opposition off the park, scoring four goals in the process, from Sebastian Davies, Conor Hughes(2) and Daniel Pike. The game finished with Lisvane jubilating their fine performance and victory.
LPFC BLACK: 4 - ST ALBANS: 0

Lisvane Panthers U9 Red
The first game against Heath Park saw the boys start really well with some solid defending from Oliver Taylor, Ryan Martin and Peter Goodwin. Even though we went behind to an early goal all the boys worked really hard to get back into the game. Finally after some great passing and midfield work from Jack Donnelly and Osian Barr-Franco, Callum Bricknell scored a great equaliser to get a hard fought draw.
The 2nd game was against a very strong AFC Rumney side who were also very well organised. The only way I can describe our performance is magnificent!!. Every single player played fantastically well. Defence, midfield and attack not forgetting Harrison Trinder in goal who made some outstanding saves. We took the lead through Jack Donnelly with a great strike from inside the area only to have this lead cancelled out by an equally good goal from the strong Rumney side. We battled on and finally got our rewards with a candidate for goal of the season from our right back Peter Goodwin who struck the ball brilliantly from outside the box into the bottom right corner of the Rumney goal. What a result!! Well done boys.
Finally we came up against Eglwys Newydd who gave us another terrific game and again the boys had to work very hard. It wasn't until late in the second half when Antonio Campo scored a terrific goal from long range looping the ball over the goalkeeper to give us a 1 - 0 victory. This was by far our best performances this season and I hope we can show the same commitment again next week. A very well done to all of you.

Lisvane Panthers: 0 - Marlboro White: 3
Not our best performance and not a lot we can say about this match neither. We were never in the game and without much effort from their part Marlboro scored 3 goals. We always have bad games from time to time and this one was one of them... a lot of work to be done this year to avoid games like this where we did not give our best.
Lisvane Panthers: 0 - Pentyrch Rangers White: 0
Some improvement with regards the first match although still far from we have shown this year. On the positive side our defenders Faris Talib, Ieaun Wilkins and especially Joseph Aziz were brilliant, anticipating to their strikers and holding positions when needed.Joshua Moore and Alex Maldonado once again showed a great display running up and down the pitch on countless occasions, excellent work done both of you boys well supported by Gordon Lai and Alex Le Grys. Joshua had the best chance to score after a good run and a good pass from Alex Maldonado, unfortunately he missed the ball by a whisker!
Lisvane man of the match: Joseph Aziz
Lisvane Panthers: 1 - Radyr Rangers: 0
On our last match the effort put by all players was good, running continuously and passing the ball. However we can not be very happy with the game overall as we have played a lot better and we can offer much more (as we have done recently). On the other hand we claimed a well deserved victory after a lot of work done over the three games and that is important too. It is just to recognise that all players put a lot of enthusiasm and effort even if the play was not as we would like to be. Last year we would have lost this type of games but the team showed enough character to win so... well done boys.

LISVANE BLACK: 0 - THORNHILL RED: 0
Personally this has to be the best fixture of the season with each and every game being played very competatively but fairly throughout from both teams, there seems to be a mutual respect from both players and management teams with these two sides, and the result never seems to be the issue with the importance being placed on both sides playing well. Today was no different, both teams played excellent passing games with each team having plenty of chances to score, but with a very good goal keeper at either end the dead lock could not be broken and the result was fair at a nil nil draw.
LISVANE BLACK: 4- GRANGETOWN CLARET: 0
The Grangetown Claret team have showed a vast improvement over last season and battled very strongly in the first half with the Lisvane boys playing up hill, the half time score was a fair 1-0 to Lisvane with a goal from Michael Gooding. The second half was a slightly different story with Lisvane now playing down the hill toward the Grangetown goal. Lisvane put a lot of pressure on the Grange goal and they subsequently conceded 3 further goals from Sean Bartlett, Joshua Moore and Joshua Caswell. Again the passing game that we work so hard on in training is now starting to come together with most of the squad finally becoming aware of the space available to them.
LISVANE BLACK: 4 - LISVANE RED: 2
Today brought the derby between the under 9 original force of the Lisvane Black against the new boys of the season Lisvane Red. Already the red team had shown that they were not going to be a walkover with some impressive early results in the season, and from sharing training with alot of the lads before the formation of the the team the Black team new that this was not going to be an easy game. The Black team started the game playing up the hill an quickly conceded a goal from a fantastic shot in the top of the goal from Callum Brickn ell. The Black team then drew level with an equaliser from Joshua Moore, only for the Red team to take the lead further from a corner tapped in at the back post after some sloppy defending from the Black team. The second half prooved much of the same with Lisvane Black passing the ball around again and firing shot after shot at the Red teams goal , but for a fantastic keeping display from Harrison Trinder the result may have been different . The Black team equalised with a goal from Conor Hughes and the took the lead from a goal from Joshua Moore. They then sealed the victory with a goal from Sean Bartlett who shot from the edge of the box to give us a hard fought 4-2 win.

Lisvane Panthers: 3 – Marlboro Black: 4
We started playing against Marlboro Black dominating the game and playing much better than last week. Soon we were one goal up following a corner kick well finished by James Salamon scoring his first goal of the season. Marlboro equalised soon after but we reacted very well with a fantastic goal from Joshua Moore taking the lead for the second time. During the second half however Marlboro came back strongly and scored two goals within a few minutes. Our team showed their best equalising again from yet again a well taken corner kick from Joshua finished off this time by Alex Le Grys and when we were putting them under a lot of pressure they managed to score their last goal of the match. Good game boysMan of the match: Joshua Moore
Lisvane Panthers: 1 – Thornhill Red: 2
Thornhill Red have always given us problems in the past and always managed to beat us. On this occasion we deserved a better result though, we offered a good display and we came back from 1-0 with a goal from Alex Le Grys. The boys gave their best and we proved that we are improving week after week. At the end a more experienced Thornhill scored in the last minutes but Lisvane played a good match.Lisvane man of the match: Gordon Lai
Lisvane Panthers: 0 – Marlboro Red: 5
Last matches are not normally our best and if it happens that we play against a good and a strong team like Malrboro Red the final result is not very good. Marlboro scored within the first minute the goal of the season in my view, excellent header to finish an excellent crossing! We were very tired to offer any opposition and by half time they had scored another three goals. Our second half was better but overall they were too strong team, do not worry boys you did well.Lisvane man of the match: Faris Taleb

LPFC BLACK: 3 - MARLBORO WHITE: 1
Marlboro White started this game strongly and came out impressivly in the first half with nothing really in it. The half time whistle brought us level @ 1 goal each with the Panthers goal scored by Joshua Caswell who was acting as captain for the month of November. The second half saw the Panthers apply a bit more pressure and look a lot more comfortable on the ball with some slick passing movement; and showing that they were confident with the ball at feet often bringing their own keeper in to play with the passing moves. Joshua Caswell scored his 2nd goal of the morning with Daniel Pike finishing the game off adding a third goal in an impressive performance.
LPFC BLACK: 1 - ELY RANGERS RED: 0
Our second game of the morning brought much of the same with the Panthers passing game seriously out classing a physical Ely side. With some dangerous tackles from the Ely side seeing one of their players leaving the field of play quickly followed by the departure of one of our own Panthers for a similar challenge in the second half. The game left a bit of sour taste with the Panthers gaining a well deserved win by playing football in the manner to which we have become used to playing, with the winning goal coming from Michael Gooding.
LPFC BLACK: 1 - PENTYRCH RANGERS RED: 1
Our final game of the day was aginst Pentyrch in what was to become a game of two halves. With Pentyrch taking the lead in the 1st half from a scrappy own goal they defended well against a Panthers side desperate to redress the balance . With some rather dodgy refereeing decisions (by me) not allowing a Pentyrch own goal which their keeper bravely smothered on the line obscuring my view of the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( LISVANE PARENTS WHEN YOU WERE ASKED NOT TO QUESTION ANY REFEREEING DECISIONS- THAT INCLUDED MINE!!!!!!! HA HA ) . The 2nd half saw the boys put the Pentyrch team under a lot of pressure with the ball being in the opposition half for the majority of the half and laying shot after shot at the Pentyrch goal only to be denied by their keeper and defence. Joshua Caswell took his third of the day to draw us level, and with the full time whistle coming it gave us an unlucky draw but Pentyrch fought hard and deserved draw too.(Adam Caswell)

Lisvane Panthers: 1 – Marlboro White: 0
Two weeks ago we played against this team and we lost 3-0. This time we played in the way we know and we controlled the match from the beginning to the end giving no option to Marlboro White. Another great corner kick taken by Joshua Moore ended in the net after Alex Maldonado kicked the ball. We did not relax (as tends to happen to us after scoring) and carried on passing the ball, well positioned and dominating the match. The whole team performed very well, well done boys!

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 – Lisvane Panthers Black: 4
Panthers Black remains one of the best teams in the league. Our first half was good holding our positions properly and although they put us under a lot of pressure we managed to defend well and even managed to create a few chances. At the beginning of the second half they scored their first goal and from then we found very difficult to come back in the match. Even though, with 2-0 we had our most clear chance to score but their goalkeeper made a great save. The boys gave their best and that is always something to be proud of. Well done Black’s!

Lisvane Panthers: 2 – Llanedeyrn Bulldogs: 1
Last year we played six games against Bulldogs and we lost all of them. We deserved better luck in some of them but we never managed to claim a victory. All seemed to be the same after they scored at the beginning of the second half, however…however this time was a different story. The team showed their best when it was more difficult, as they like it to do! Everybody was fantastic in this match, our defenders, well lead by Joseph Aziz, played one of their best matches. Owen Dawes and James Salamon were perfect companions to Joseph tackling every ball and making it very difficult to Llanedeyrn attackers. Our midfielders took control of the match becoming a constant nightmare to their defenders. Alex Maldonado, Joshua Moore and Gordon Lai never stop passing, tackling and running up and down the pitch. As a result of a good chase Joshua scored his best goal of the season after he put in net, from a narrow angle, what it looked a lost ball to the surprise of the goalkeeper. A minute later Alex Le Grys nicely put the ball over the goalkeeper lifting it with a soft touch, great goal Alex! In summary, very good match, very exciting and well deserved first victory against LLanedeyrn Bulldogs. Congratulations Panthers!

LLANEDEYRN BULLDOGS: 0 - LPFC BLACK: 2
Our first game today was against the Bulldogs in a game played on small pitches but in near perfect weather conditions. Lisvane came out very fast as normal and dominated the game with a fast attacking passing game and looked the much better side on the park. The first half brought a 1-0 lead to the Panthers with a goal from Joshua Caswell. The 2nd half was played in the same manner again with the Bulldogs playing at a level they were playing at when I coached them myself at under 7 age group, which was a little dissapointing with several of the original squad no longer there. The Panthers piled on the pressure and but for a very good keeper in the Bulldogs goal the score line may have been different. Conor Hughes sealed the victory with another goal added to his tally to give us a well deserved 2-0 win.
LISVANE ORANGE: 0 - LISVANE BLACK: 4
In a game today which was really of two halfs, the Black team took to the field possibly feeling a little complacent against an Orange team they know very very well. The first half resulted in a 0-0 draw. With a half time talk behind us the lads settled down to dominate the game and put the pressure on the Orange team. With a flurry of 2nd half goals coming from Joshua Caswell(2), Daniel Pike and Joshua Moore proved that when they want to play football they can beat anyone in their age group.
MARLBORO WHITE: 2- LISVANE BLACK: 2
Our final game of the day was against a Marlboro White side we had played the previous week. In a game where we saw a few changes of position for the Panthers . We also started this game playing as if we had already won the game against a team working hard to prove they had more in the tank than we were expecting. The game was played at pace and Lisvane took an early lead from a long range Joshua Moore shot giving us a first half lead of 1-0. The second half saw Marlboro come out strong (good half time team talk Nick! Whats the secret?) and score a similar long range equaliser quickly followed by a second to take a well earned 2-1 lead. With the pressure now on a Panthers Black side desperation seemed to take over and a fantastic goal line clearance header from Michael Gooding away from the Marlboro goal stopping us drawing level, but was quickly rectified with a well taken goal by Michael after a goal mouth scramble to level the score at 2-2 in what has to be his best set of three games this season.
Although today was reasonably succesful it shows the importance of attending training and I think the lesson learnt is to never underestimate our opposition. Keep up the good work guys.

Lisvane Orange: 0 – Lisvane Red: 2
Great game very well played by both teams. We started the game very well positioned and showing a good form, creating good chances, but we did not manage to put the ball in the net. We paid the price of that in the second half especially after the Reds scored their first goal. The Reds were, as expected, a very strong team and they put us under increasing pressure as the second half was progressing. With the final whistle they scored their second goal claiming victory on this first “clash” with us. It was a good match overall and some of our players played their best performance this year like Alex Le Grys as a striker and Joseph Aziz in defence. Well done Red’s!Man of the match: Alex Le Grys
Lisvane Panthers: 2 – Heol HIR YC Red: 1
Although we started the game dominating, putting Heol under a lot of pressure we did not play as well as on the previous match ironically. Still, within minutes we had scored twice (first goal from Joshua Moore and second from Alex Le Grys). We had plenty more chances to score more goals (especially one chance coming from Alex Maldonado that hit the post) but did not convert any and close to the end of the second half Heol scored their goal. On the second half the game was much more even with both teams creating sufficient chances to score. At the end we managed to hold to the result claiming a deserved victory although Heol put us under significant pressure on the second half.Man of the match: Joseph Aziz
Lisvane Panthers: 1 – Heol HIR YC Black: 1
With the squad being reduced to just 8/9 players during the last three weekends for different reasons, our third matches are a real challenge for the players. We did not really deserve to be one goal down as they did not create many chances during the match but they scored after a chain of errors from our part at the beginning of the second half. It costs us highly every error we make (as it happens in football boys!) but one of the differences this year compared to last is that not only that we have improved greatly individually and as a team but also that we believe in ourselves. A few minutes before the end of the match Joshua Moore, completing a good performance this weekend, scored the equaliser.During the match everybody worked really hard for the team, like Ieuan Wilkins who in the first half played in midfield to become a strong defender in the second half. Thank you boys for your commitment and enthusiasm!

Lisvane Panthers Black: 1 – Ty Celyn: 1
The manager Bryan arrived and called his team and asked the boys too play TOTAL FOOTBALL. They began doing exactly as asked, Ty Celyn didn't know what hit them, and within two minutes from a good movement down the left Hugo Souto scored a great opener. Within seconds another attack, the ball found its way to Sean Bartlett, he shot and the whole team turned away anticipating a goal, but for the ball to stop in a puddle on the line. This was closely followed by a Ty Celyn attack; they broke clean through and brought a fantastic stop from Sebastian Davies in goals.
The rest of the half continued with the TOTAL FOOTBALL called for being carried out by all the boys, unfortunately without any results. Then came the second half and Ty Celyn came back into the game, Sebastian became much more involved, the opposition scored early in the half, the TOTAL FOOTBALL had been forgotten, we lost all our movement and passing, Ty Celyn played very well in stopping Lisvane playing, and the game finished all square.
Marlboro Red: 0 - Lisvane Blacks: 3
This game began as the first, Hugo had several mazy runs down the left, one creating a corner, which he took, floated the ball into the area for Joshua Caswell to attack and score a superb header.
We had most of the game, dominating all aspects, but still struggled to get the ball in the back of the net. We needed to carry on with our passing, and at all times, instead of the boy's thinking they can all score from every angle and any distance.
Second half Hugo carried on with his battling forward run's keeping the ball at his feet and slotting home from an acute angle. We also had some excellent overlapping play from Ethan down the right. Sebastian had a very workman like performance in the middle, which was eventually rewarded with a goalmouth scrabbled goal.
Eglwys Newydd: 0 - Lisvane Blacks: 6
Early in the game we had all the possession, with Daniel Pike having several attempts before eventually netting. Michael Gooding had a shot saved on the line, followed by some excellent training session passing moves, Conner Hughes created a great breakaway with just the keeper to beat, but shot wide. This was followed by the move of the year so far, Daniel Melhuish flick onto Sebastian in our half, Seb pass across field to Michael Gooding, inside then to Daniel Pike, cross from Dan to Conner Hughes to slide the ball over the line for the second goal.
Then within a blink of an eye, following that great move, Sean Bartlett battled with the goal keeper out wide, cutting inside beating another player and squaring for Dan Pike to collect his second of the match. To finish the while I was still writing about the last two goals, Michael Gooding finished off another good move to make it 4-0 at half time.
The second half saw Eglwys Newydd come back at us, but not for long, a break away from Ethan, who passed onto Joshua for a typical Josh Caswell goal. The boy's carried on playing with confidence, the next came from a move, Conner to Hugo over to Ethan and bang six nil. We finished the day with a fierce shot from Mr Souto only to hit Mr Caswell, who stopped a certain goal.
Overall in between the chatter between games, very, very good and enjoyable games of football, well done lads.

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 1 – Ty Celyn: 1
After several weeks not playing games we looked a bit rusty in the first match. It took us a while to get in the match with Ty Celyn who scored at the beginning of the second half. Towards the end we started to move the ball more accordingly to how we know to play and after a good shot from Joshua Moore, Ieuan Wilkins scored the equaliser. The big difference with regards to last season is that when the other team score we always come back, working very hard and most of the times with good football and that is due to the effort and good work of the players, well done

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 1 – Pentyrch Rangers: 1
Although we ended with the same result as against Ty Celyn we played a better match. We dominated most of the game creating several chances to score (especially one from Alex Maldonado that hit the post) even if we did not play at our best. Within minutes of the second half Alex Le Grys scored (as he is now used to do week after week!) but unfortunately we thought everything was achieved allowing Pentyrch to equalise a minute after. All credit to Pentyrch players however who worked hard to get this deserved draw.
Man of the match: Joshua Moore
Lisvane Panthers Orange: 1 – Maindy red: 3
Maindy Red were 3 goals up within minutes of the first half and although we
have to give Maindy a lot of merit as they showed a great display of skills
our lack of concentration made things a lot easier for them, we just disappeared
off the pitch during this time! However and once again during this season, our
defenders and our goalkeeper kept us in the match with their good performance,
well led by Owen Dawes and then we began to play good football. By the end of
the first half we had already created a couple of good chances narrowly missing
the target.
Most of the second half was played in Maindy’s side of the pitch putting
them under pressure. As a result one of the many good shots from Joshua in this
match ended in the back of the net spectacularly. That put us back in the game
and we created several other occasions to score, ironically we possibly played
our best football during this match. Good work boys

Lisvane Black: 4 - Lisvane Red: 0
The game today started a little later today than planned with the other two teams on this fixture not having full squads ready for a 9.30 ko. Jason and I decided to lengthen the game and start to keep our boys warm on a cold December morning.
The game started at a furious pace with both sides playing good football. The Blacks attacking well and the reds defending very well and vice versa. Half time came with the score line level at 0 -0. Conor Hughes opened the scoring early in the second half and quickly followed with his second after a fantastic run and cross from a defensive position from Daniel Melhuish, hitting the ball in from the back post. From here the Black team forced forward forcing several saves from the Red team's keeper Harrison Trinder. Fortunately for us he managed to pad two balls away for our striker Joshua Caswell to take on the rebound, taking the final score to 4 - 0.
Lisvane Black: 2- Llanrumney: 0
In a long awaited re match we met again with the boys from Llanrumney who had beaten us early in the season, with the Lisvane boys looking to redress the balance. The game was played on a terrible pitch with Llanrumney playing in what can only be described as the deep end of the pitch in the first half. the break in the game came with a fantastic shot from far out on the right from Joshua Moore with a ball that as soon as it had left his foot was destined for the back of the net . half time score 1 -0.
The second half saw Lisvane play in the deep end but continuously we tried to swim to the shallow end . With Michael Gooding forcing his way forward up the right with several runs finally forcing the ball in the back of the net for pur second of the game.
TGhe most amusing part of this game was the look on Paul Davies's face , father of Sebastian who pulled off the save of the season after a 12 week intensive goal keeping course to land face first full length in the deep end that was his goal area. Good save Seb sorry Paul.
St Albans: 1 - Lisvane Black: 1
In what was to become our worst game of the day for us, we played an improving St Albans team, who battled tremendously well over the 20 minutes. Lisvane seemed to have forgotten how to pass in this game and several players were showing signs of the late nights that the christmas party season brings. The first half saw us take the lead with a goal from Dan Pike, only for the second half to bring an equaliser after some pressure from the opposition which our goal keeper padded into the back of his own net.
A VERY GOOD FIRST TWO GAMES BOYS, LET OURSELVES DOWN ON THE THIRD, NOT WITH THE RESULT BUT WITH THE WAY WE PLAYED. WELL DONE.

Lisvane Black: 1 - Marlboro Red: 0
In what was to become a very entertaining game from start to finish , Marlboro started strong and with a fantastic goal keeping display, kept themselves in the game denying the Panthers several clear cut opportunities along the way. With the Panthers players starting to rush a little and taking foolhardy swings at the ball without looking to control it first; it took the talents of Hugo Souto to take the ball on again from a defensive role and score a goal to give us a hard fought 1-0 win.
Lisvane Black: 2 - Ely Rangers: 1
In this game the Panthers seemed to settle down a little knowing that our opponents were a very strong passing side. The game was played in a good manner from start to finish with both teams playing entertaining football. We took the lead early on from a goal by Joshua Caswell. The 2nd half saw Ely score a goal to bring the score back level only for Joshua Caswell to secure the win in the last few minutes of the game.At the end of this game we saw the poor side of our panthers team when some of the lads were ungracious in victory and decided to laugh at the opposition for losing. The boys were made to aplogise to both the team and their coach. Lets not see this happening again lads we have to respect everyone we play against.
Lisvane Black: 3 - Lisvane Orange: 0
Our final game of the day was against our Lisvane club mates, with their goal keeper currently playing very well they stopped the Blacks scoring early on in the game. The game was played in good spirit although the Black team shirts seemed to be slightly bigger at the end of the game than they were when we started (ha ha). The deadlock was broken with a goal by the in form Conor Hughes scoring with his head. Quickly followed by a deflected shot off the ever improving Joseph Aziz , from Joshua Caswell to find the back off the net for our 2nd. The Orange team were cruely denied their best chance of the day after some good passing play from their own from defence via Gordon, Alex and Ieuan to their striker Alex who fired an awsome shot at our Michael Gooding in goal for him to pull off a fantastic save pushing the ball onto the cross bar and away from goal stopping an almost certain goal. The victory was the sealed with a further goal from Joshua Caswell finding the back of the net for the fourth time today for a good 3 -0 winOur half season ends as:

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 1 - Grange BC Claret: 2
We played two very different parts in this match. During the first ten minutes we did not look ourselves and we conceded two easy goals. All the credit to Grange Clarets who deserved the goals.
During the second ten minutes we played a lot more like we can do and within minutes Ieaun Wilkins put the ball in the net after chasing and fighting for it until he scored. Shortly after Alex Maldonado and Alex Le Grys were very close to equalise but at the end we could not manage to complete what it would have been a great come back.

We claimed our only victory of the weekend against the Lisvane Panthers Red.
The game started with an early goal from the Red's who also created good chances to increase their score later on but were particularly unlucky on this game. Alex Le Grys equalised for us and Gordon Lai put us in the lead for the first time after a good shot from nearly our side of the pitch!
In the last minutes Alex Le Grys scored his second of the match securing the victory for us.

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 - AFC Rumney Blues: 3
When we were more tired and against the strongest team this weekend it was then when we saw the best of the team. Everybody played well so congratulations to Alex Boyd, Owen Dawes, Ieaun Wilkins, Joseph Aziz (great in defence once again!), Gordon Lai, Alex Maldonado, James Solomon and Alex Le Grys (excellent captain).
The score does not reflect the true story of the match, we allowed two early goals (again) and the last one came in the last minutes and we deserved some goals on our side too.
Rumney were just winners of the match but we gave everything we had and that is as important as a victory and something to be proud of boys. Well done!

Lisvane Panthers Black: 0 - Eglwys Newydd Yellow: 0
After a lengthy lay off due to poor weather the Panthers returned to the field of play having only played one freindly game on astro turf against our close rivals Llanishen Dons. That game was hard fought and the dons came away worthy winners playing very good football against us.Lessons were learnt that night and the Panthers came out today looking to prove they could still play positive football. Unfortunately today the Eglwys Newydd Yellow team came out with a similar idea; and with our top scorer and striker out of action due to a school yard tumble and our key central midfield player feeling the effects of illness earlier this week we had to up our game a lot.
The game was played at pace with both teams attacking the goal. Our defence were outstanding all day today, and our midfield followed the instruction of holding their position durind the games, and our striker today was Daniel Melhuish whose pace and willingness to tackle and run with the ball was also good to see. We failed to create any decent scoring opporunities this game but on the other hand stopped a very good Eglwys yellow team from ceating any chances of their own. The game ended scoreless but remained competitive from both teams to the last whistle.WELL DONE BOTH TEAMS.
Lisvane Panthers Black 1 - Marshfield Juniors 0
The second game of today was against an improving Marshfield side, again the game was played at pace with both teams playing good football on far from perfect pitches, but we were out there and playing. Both teams had scoring opportunities in this game but by the half time interval the score was a deserved nil- nil.
The second half saw some of the attacking play that we are used to seeing from the Panthers and the pressure was on to break the deadlock.
The break came when Joshua Moore added to his seasons total to give us a well earned 1-0 win
Lisvane Panthers Black 2 - Maindy Corries Red 0
The last game today was against a Maindy team who we have not played for a long time.
With the panthers playing defensively very well and showing signs of form in attack we were confident of a result in this game. Maindy quickly showed us they were not going to make that easy in any way ,shape or form and the game was hard fought from start to finish.
The half time whistle brought us still level with no goals scored.
The second half saw Lisvane put some pressure on the Maindy goal for several shots to pushed out wide by the Maindy keeper to secure us several corner opportunities. One of these gave us the lead when a Maindy defender turned the ball in to his own goal with a fantastic header, that if it had been at the other end would have been goal of the season. This gave the Panthers confidence to put more pressure on now and the win was secured with a goal from the in form Hugo Souto. Final score 2-0.
After several weeks of missing games, today showed that even without key players in the team we have strength in depth too up our game even if that means we have to move out of our normal position.
Special mention today has to go to Sean Bartlett who lead the defensive line strongly and who when moved to a central midfield role was outstanding. Seb Davies who played at rightback today, played very well holding up the ball and his position well. As well as giving us a good display on his return to his goal keeping role. Connor Flynn who today took his game up a level with some good challenges and some running with the ball. Too Daniel Melhuish who today showed us some of the ability that we all knew was in there somewhwere! He ran, he tackled, he shot, he passed, he headed Normally Dan keeps all this in reserve and lets one out occasionally but today we had them all on the same day.!!!!!( only joking) keep up the effort guys, good performaces all round, well done.

Lisvane Panthers Black: 1 - Heol Hir Red: 0
Our first match today was against the improving Heol Hir Red team. The game was played today in fantastic conditions (must be near to the end of the season). With an early kick off today the game was played in very good spirit by both teams. This week again we were playing players in various positions within the squad , and again the boys held their positions very well. Their defensive play was very good and we saw few attacks against our goal all morning. Dan Melhuish again played this first game as striker and rewarded our selection with the only goal in this game in the first half.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 0 - Radyr Rangers: 0
The second game today was against a well drilled Radyr team who put our defence under substantial pressure in the opening half of this game. With people playing in strange position today this game give everybody an appreciation of how good our normal defensive players are. The second half saw us up our game and saw a fantastic performance from Ethan Grant in defence who was solid all morning. This seemed to calm down the Radyr attack and gave us the opportunity to attack the Radyr goal. With a fantastic goal keeping display from the Radyr keeper the game showed a worthy nil nil score line at the end of a tough game.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 1 - Maindy Corries White: 0
Our last game today was against our second Maindy team in two weeks. The game was started in good spirit and we attacked the Maindy goal on several occasions. with one resulting in us taking a first half lead with a good finish from returning striker Joshua Caswell. With the second half seeing Joshua Moore show some brilliant running and attacking at the Maindy defence, the game took a down turn with some rash challenges coming from our opponents today giving us several free kick opportunities, unfortunately we did not capitalise on these and the game ended 1 - 0.
Today saw some excellent performances all round . We have been putting the emphasis over the past weeks on positioning and the lads seem to have sorted that out on the field of play. Our other area of concentration over recent weeks was each and every player looking at their options and taking the right one for the team. In the main this week this was very good, but post match discussions identified where we let ourselves down . Keep up the good work boys, the results are not as important as the performances we are putting in.

Our first match was against Pentyrch White who was missing many of its usual players. After a few minutes they were unlucky to score an own goal and after that we controlled the game scoring two more goals from Alex Le Grys and Ieaun Wilkins.
In the second half Pentyrch came back strongly and despite their goal (all the credit to Pentyrch who kept working hard) Alex Le Grys sealed the final score with his second goal completing an excellent match.
In midfield Ieaun Wilkins our captain today played also a very good match and deserves to be man of the match

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 - Marlboro Black: 3
We know that any of Marlboro teams are good teams and on this particular case Marlboro Black deserved the victory, however we played a good match (especially in the second half) creating many occasions and putting Marlboro under constant pressure.
It was a vibrant match with a lot of effort put in the field by all the players with good passing and tackling and with chances to score narrowly missed.
Alex Boyd was our hero and best player especially for a very brave save in front of four attacking players who did not manage to score (and with James Salamon to the rescue, kicking the ball to corner!). Well done Lisvane, great effort!
Man of the match: Alex Boyd
Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 - Eglwys Newydd Blue: 0
We did not play bad in this match and the truth is that we enjoyed many clear chances to score, sometimes saved by their goalkeeper, sometimes hitting the goal post and sometimes simply missed.
Eglwys Newydd Blue worked very, very hard causing us troubles in defence and they claimed at the end a deserved draw. It is also true that we were a bit unlucky as normally some of the occasions we had should have ended with the ball in the back of their net.
Joseph Aziz was fantastic in this match playing very good football in the left, congratulations for that Joseph. In this match however the man of the match award goes to Gordon Lai who deserved at least two goals during the game and who was a permanent nightmare to the players of Eglwys Newydd Blue (running with the ball, tackling, shooting, covering all areas in the pitch, etc,), thanks Gordon for your efforts!

Lisvane Panthers U9 Black
With a fixture not allocated today we invited down to Cardiff a very strong Fleur De Llys who we had previously met at the Undy tournament. They beat us then and to play them again today would give us an idea of how we had improved over a season and a half.
In very soft conditions at Llanishen Park both teams played attacking games and the Lisvane home side with a depleted side started attacking the Flower goal. With several shots missing the target it certainly looked as if was going to be one of those days.
The Lisvane defence today of Sean,Connor F, Michael and Dan M, seemed to have the making of the Flower attack, and cut out wave after wave of attacking play, and with our usually strong midfield and strike force keen to attack our opponents goal, this seemed to bring out the best of our opponents defence and very good goal keeper.
As stated previously it was going to be one of those days. With the first goal coming from an own goal from an in form Dan Melhuish who's attempted shot block was diverted over our goal keepers head (it even happens in the premiership Dan . not to worry). The second goal of the day came from a mistake from our central defender Sean Bartlett who unfortunately misread the sticky conditions and dropped a back pass to our keeper short, only for the strong flower striker to pick the ball up and fire it into the back of our net past a retreating Seb Davies. The third of the day again came from a handling error from Seb whose feet seemed to have got stuck in the mud after stopping a shot causing him to drop the ball in to the path of the Flower striker following his own shot in, giving flower a nice 3-0 buffer.
With all said and done in terrible conditions heads did not drop and the Lisvane boys continued to force the game on to the visiting Flower team. With some nice passing movement from the boys, Joshua Caswell finally got the ball in the back of the net proving that after several spectacular attempts he could find the back of the net with basic following up of a padded shot.
Overall today as coaches with two very strong players missing we felt that we played the better football today and put our opponents under pressure a lot of the time. Unfortunately the result went against us and the final score of 3-1 did not give a true reflection of a game that in fairness was exciting end to end passing and attacking football from both sides, and played in a very good manner from both teams.
In finishing myself and Bryan would like to thank the Flower coaches, team, and parents for travelling to Cardiff today and giving us possibly the best game of football we have seen from any two teams this season. We look forward to the return trip to the valley to try and redress the balance a little in hopefully better conditions. To the Lisvane boys well done all. Each and every player gave 110% and showed definite improvement over more recent weeks. Special mention to Dan Mel and Connor F who have taken their game up another level this week. To Michael who's tackling was outstanding today, and to Conor Hughes for carrying his dirty track suit bottoms around the pitch for 45 mins (I am sure he doubled his body weight during today's game).
Well done guys keep it up!

At a much anticipated Maindy Stadium, the setting for this week’s fixtures, was very nearly overshadowed by the weather yet again. With a torrential down poor half an hour before kick off, the ground looked sodden and was deemed ‘unplayable’ by perhaps an over zealous pitch inspector. However, a barrage of complaints from parents and other club officials overturned his previous decision and the matches were allowed to go ahead.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 3 - Heol Hir YC Black: 1
Conditions were heavy to say the least and the decision to have ‘sliding
tackles’ outlawed, made for an interesting morning/afternoon’s play.
The boys started briskly with some great ‘pass and move’ football
and quickly set out their intentions to this improving Heol Hir side. Josh Caswell
opened the scoring with a good goal, turning and shooting leaving the keeper
helpless to give us a 1-0 lead. Good ball control and determination gave Josh
Moore the opportunity to get his left boot dirty, and hit a screamer to make
it 2-0. Hugo Souto was proving to be the difference between the two sides today,
with some good tackles and forward runs from defence, but it would prove to
be the ‘Joshua’ day today, with a clean volley from Josh Caswell
before halftime to give us a comfortable lead and a clean sheet at half time.
The second half started as we finished, with good link up play, but the boys
must have taken their eye off the ball for a minute and allowed Heol Hir to
peg one back. Unfortunately for them, our defence realised their mistake, and
did not allow them a second bite of the cherry.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 0 - Maindy Corries Red: 0
After the last game, this fixture proved to be something of an anti-climax. Opportunities were offered to both sides but neither team could grasp the nettle. Josh Caswell could not add to his brace in the first game and defensive errors could have cost us dearly if luck was not on our side. However, we continued to play a good passing game but missed that final spark in front of goal.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 2 - Llanishen Dons: 4
This encounter was eagerly anticipated by coaches and parents of both sides
(some more than others, Tony!) Josh Moore opened the scoring with that ‘dirty
left boot’ again, to give us a well deserved early lead. We had opportunities
to add to our tally but for strong defending and determination by the Dons defence,
and more chances going begging! The ambition of the Dons youngsters was rewarded
with a goal just before half time leaving our defence shell shocked. In fact,
we were still licking our wounds when the Dons scored a carbon copy of their
first to give them a 2-1 lead at half time.
The second half started with end to end passages of play, with both sides neutralising
the midfield. Injuries and more missed opportunities, gave the appearance that
the game was slipping away from us when another goal from Josh Moore, proving
that he could score with both feet gave us hope at 3-2. Unfortunately, that
hope was short lived and who else but the Dons coach’s son (Scott) to
add salt to our wounds to put the tie out of reach, and give the dons their
‘first’ well deserved victory (on grass).
View from the terrace!
A mixed bag today with one win, a draw and finally a loss. I thought we competed well throughout the day and deserved a bigger share of the points available. Both Joshua’s took their chances well, but we missed several more. That, and defensive errors are what cost us against Llanishen Dons. Every player demonstrated why even though our result form is not as good as last season, every team in the league want to beat ‘US’, and have to ‘up their own game’ to do so. The positive thing was the way we played. Good passing, and movement on and off the ball, with constant interaction with each other. I am sure that the coaches Adam and Brian will feel satisfied by the boy’s performance.
The day couldn’t pass without a mention to Sean. Time after time he goes in search of that wonder goal that was his trademark last season, but it just wouldn’t fall for him today! Keep trying mate, IT WILL COME!
Well done boys!

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 – St Albans: 3
On a cold morning on Saturday we started playing against a very strong St Albans team, the truth is that it took us a while to be in the match and despite our efforts St Albans dominated the match completely showing great skills. We were not at our best and St Albans did not make it easier for us either, it was a good experience for all of us and we need to concentrate in our game and train harder in order to improve in the future. On the positive side it was remarkable and encouraging how the kids kept trying until the last minute, putting in some difficulties to St Albans towards the end of the match
Player of the match: Fady Aziz
Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 – Eglwys Newydd Yellow: 1
Our second game was against Eglwys Newydd Yellow. The match was well disputed by both teams with occasions created in both areas. Unfortunately for us, they took the lead in the first half and despite our efforts we could not get back in the game. Our players tried their best and showed good skills during the match but we could not finish some of the chances we had. Keep working hard boys!
Player of the match: Alex Maldonado
Lisvane Panthers Orange: 0 – Maindy Corries Red: 3
The last match was against Maindy Corries Red who as usual showed a lot of determination and good skills.Despite the final score it was a well disputed match too and we offered a good battle, however once again we did not manage to put the ball in the net although our players are trying and working hard of it. Although Maindy deserved the victory we should have also got at least one goal. Thank you boys for your efforts.
Player of the match: James Salamon
The coaches would like to say thanks to the players for their work and to the parents for their support. It is hard to go home after loosing three matches and not scoring a goal, however this team is developing very well and the good results will come back. At times we play very good football and we can offer a very good opposition to any team of the league. We started the season playing very well and we are sure that this will be the case again very soon!

Lisvane Panthers U9 Black
Venue: Llanedeyrn
For our matches today we returned to Llanedeyrn, where the pitches were surprisingly good considering recent weather conditions. After a very good Friday night training session the lads seemed well up for the games ahead.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 3 - Llanedeyrn Bulldogs White: 0
We started against the Llanedeyrn Bulldogs White team. With the Bulldogs currently pushing two teams forward in readiness for next season and beyond. The Panthers came out firing on all cylinders and forced the game to the Bulldogs. Our first break came with a goal from our striker and current top scorer Joshua Caswell with a left foot tap in off a Sean Bartlett cross. With us starting the second half with a 1-0 buffer the Panthers pushed on hard into the second half with a fantastic run from Hugo Souto again from a defensive position to fire a fantastic left foot into the Bulldog goal. With the game now secure at 2-0 the boys heads were up and following the words of our psychic parent Martyn Pike who wrote up last week's report our centre back Sean Bartlett fired his trademark right foot from distance into the top right of the Bulldogs net, securing us a well deserved 3-0 win.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 1 - Eglwys Newydd: 0
Our second game of the day was against an improving Eglwys Newydd blue team. The Panthers seemed up for this game in the football and the physical elements, and seemed to have the upper hand in both. With the Eglwys boys spending a lot of time on the floor much to the dismay of their vocal parents, the game was closely battled. The game remained level at half time with no score. The second half was more of the same with pressure from both sides, the break came when Joshua Caswell run at goal firing a shot that hit the left upright and rolled over the line, to save any confusion of it being a goal or not, Conor Hughes fired the ball into the back of the net to make certain of a Panthers team win. Final score 1-0 win.
Lisvane Panthers Black: 1 - Llanedeyrn Bulldogs Green: 0
Our final game was against the Llanedeyrn Bulldogs Green team. This proved to be a tough game with the Bulldogs cutting out several Panther attacks on their goal. The only goal of the match coming in the first half after another break from Hugo Souto up the left to fire a cross into the box for the in form Joshua Caswell to take a fantastic goal with his head into the back of the Bulldogs goal. Several further chances came but were snubbed out by a competitive Bulldogs team. Final score 1-0 win.
With only ten players available today the boys played some fantastic football. The score lines could have been a lot more in favour of us but for the tenacity of our competition today. The mistakes that showed in last week's games were not there today and this showed all around with each and every player giving his all.
Just a word of warning guys! We are in this sport for all of us to learn, myself and Bryan cannot accept the use of bad language at training or on the field of play, whether that be during the games or during a celebration after a match. This does not look good for those looking on for us as coaches, you as a squad of players or the club on the whole!
