Annual Reports 2006/07

Under 12 Orange

Managers: Adrian Chilcott & Dave Westwood

Our first competitive League season Lisvane Orange under 12's played in the B Division and what a great season with a dramatic finale!!
First up lets have a stat attack.
League P21 W17 D1 L3 Goals F 125 Goals A 38 Pts 52 Joint 2nd (1 game subsquently removed when Marlboro Red dropped out of league)
Top scorers: Jacob Chilcott 62, James Berridge 22, Zach Bartlett 13, Ed Poynter 11, Charlie Cruttenden 10 But something I'm more proud of is that 19 out of 20 registered players scored. Bearing in mind we've got 2 goalies!!!!!!!
Every game we lost was by the scoreline 2-3 (Spooky!!!!!!!!!)
Due to the fact that final placing (1st & 2nd) can not be decided by goal difference we had to have an end of season play-off v Splott Albion, where our boys played some of their best footie of the season to triumph 5-2 and win a slot in the A league next season.
This season's squad has comprised :
Tom Humphreys - Goalie (but has played the odd game out when needed, and yes it was Tom that got the goal!!) Tom's one of the characters of the team, on his day one of the finest goalies in the league.
David Gooding - Goalie. If he was with any other team he'd be 1st choice goalie on his own, saved a penalty early in the season and without doubt we have 2 most consistant goalies in the league.
Jack Sanders - Defender (right full back) 3 goals. Jack has had an awesome season, his grit determination and general competitiveness has rubbed off all his fellow players. This was best illustrated last game (play-off) which he was due to miss because of injury his turning up gave the rest of the boys a massive lift.
Rhys Jones - Defender (left full back) 1 goal. Rhys has again improved immeasurably his cultured left foot, along with his general awareness this season have been outstanding. Both he and Jack must be hardest tacking full backs in the league.
Sam Williams - Defender. Sam started season and was very dependable member of squad but just 2 months into seson decided he was going to take a sabbatical, i'm sure it's not the last we see of Sam in a panthers shirt.
Alex Westwood - Defender 1 goal. Another fine season reading the game well and getting a foot in. Forged a good partnership with Matt in centre of defence.
Matt Davies - Defender 1 goal. Matt as above has played his part in defence with his tough, no-nonense approach. (suitably encouraged by his Dad!)
James Barry - Defender (occasionally Midfield) 1 goal. Baz as he is known to his teammates has proven to be a very useful squad member, playing in a number of roles as required.
Ed Morris - Defender/ Midfield 1 goal. Ed has started more this season and hasn't been afraid to get his foot in, he's had a good season.
Rob Osmond - Midfield 2 goals. Rob joined us this season showed encouaging signs down left side of midfield but didn't play last 2 months of season.
Declan Roper - Left Midfield 2 goals. Declan joined after christmas when previous club withdrew, he's been a great addition to squad linking well with Rhys down the left, i'm sure he go from strength to strength next season.
Matt Hudson - Midfield/Striker 2 goals. Matt never gives anything less than 110%, his enthiusiasm is tremendous.
James Berridge - Midfield/Striker 22 goals. Bessie has a great year doing anything and everything with a smile, maybe not against Canton!!
Zach Bartlett - Midfield 13 goals. Zach has kept the team moving forward, a strong runner with a good finish. He's developed into a good all round midfielder. His tigerish tackling not for the faint hearted!!!!!
Huw Brobin - Midfield 3 goals. Huw only joined us half way through season and has certaintly improved the length of hair in the team!!!! again another squad member that gives 110% wherever he's asked to play.
Jo O'Grady - Midfield/striker 2 goals. One of the highlights of early season his run down the left and chipping the goalie v. Trowbridge another season where Jo steadily improved.
Charlie Cruttenden - Midfield 10 goals. Charlie joined with Declan after xmxas has really slotted in to the team well, very adaptable player with good passing and beginning to take his chances in front of goal.
Edward Poynter - Striker 11 goals. Ed after a slow start to the year turned his season round in the last few months scoring some crucial goals in the big games
Jacob Chilcott - Striker 62 goals. Chilli despite getting some stick from the touchlines has been a consistent performer and one of the reasons we managed to secure 2nd place in the league. Well done.
What I would like to say that our boys have adapted brillantly to 11- a side game and all the boys can be proud of narrowly missing out on winning the league but acheiving 2nd place and promotion.
There is a great team spirit and the whole squad showed a good attitude representing the club in the right manner on and off the pitch.
Finally a big thank you to the "backroom staff" Anne Humphreys, Dave Westwood and Ian Morris for reffing, the Mums and Dads who've supported on the touchline.
Clive "Cobber" Davies of Dowd Shipping who kindly sponsored some training tops for the boys.
We all look forward to next season, when we'll have fresh opponents and new challenges GO PANTHERS, GO PANTHERS!

The B side played our second game of the season versus Maindy Corries.

Saturday 16th September 2006

U12 A division

Panthers Black: 2 - AFC Rumney Juniors: 3
Venue: Llanrumney University Field

A few friendly games prior to this were disappointing to say the least, and had an effect on the whole team. Despite reassurance from the coach and parents that things would improve.

This game turned out to be a promising start to 11 a side football despite a defeat as it was a significant 100% improvement over the recent performances. The boys have realised the importance of passing and communication on a pitch of this size, as these factors are vital to a successful outcome and team moral.

On reflection the boy’s have not trained all summer and this has obviously been detrimental to their recent results.

This game provided excellent performances by all the team, but not always consistent. Further training and an improved level of fitness will be required for future games. Defence needs a tweak to give Harry a rest.

Goals were scored by Hugh Meatyard and David Thomas. Harry worked hard to with great saves.

Well done Panthers....

Lisvane Panthers U12 B: 9 - Trowbridge: 2
Venue: Pontcanna
HT 4-0
Attendence: 84 (most of these my new backroom staff!)

Saturday saw the Panthers U12 B prepare for kick off of their 3rd league game versus Trowbridge. On a Sweltering morning as the team went through their pre match warm up, news got to us that Rhys' dad Dave had been involved in a car crash and would be delayed getting to the ground. So we started with a bare 12 players.

Early on into the game it was obvious that our midfield generals James 'Bessie' Berridge and Zach Bartlett were going to get amongst their Trowbridge counterparts and provide our side with plenty of possession, this in turn produced a number of chances. Jacob Chilcott converted 3 of these chance to get a first half hat-trick and some intelligent set up play by Matthew Hudson laid on a goal scoring chance for Bessie, who duly obliged by tucking it away.

Half time: Panthers 4 - Trowbridge 0

By half time our reinforcements had arrived, much needed in the heat, and all three slotted into roles Rhys Jones at Left Back, Rob Osmond on left side of midfield and Jack Sanders who showed his battling qualities in defence. The second half really showed how much the boys footballing abilities have come on with some great interplay between Rhys, Rob and Joe O'Grady in particular down that left side. James Berridge got his second with a rasping drive. James 'Bas' Barry who had been pushed up into midfield took his goal well. Ed Morris also showed a poacher instinct with a sharp finish. Zach played a lovely through ball for 'Chilli' to get his fourth.

While all this goal fest was going on Dave Gooding pulled off a full length diving save to stop a penalty, unfortunately for Dave Trowbridge got to the rebound first, but the penalty save was awesome. Then just to cap a splendid performance the large capacity crowd were sent wild by Joe O'Grady charging down the left flank and chipping over the goalie to get his second goal in as many games. Well played boys a good all-round performance.

Trowbridge must be congratulated as they contributed to an entertaining game and scored their first goals of the season, Well done.

The Panthers have a week off before facing another unbeaten side Splott Albion at Pontcanna next Saturday in what should be a exciting match. Be early (preferably without crashing the car) if you want to get a good advantage spot as there should be a big crowd!!!!!!!!

Under 12A Division

Panthers Black: 0 - Ely Rangers Colts: 14
Venue: Pontcanna

After last weeks play things looked to be improving.

This game started slowly and the Panthers were playing reasonably well. However there were some fouled attempts to score by the Panthers.

The Colts started to get the ball in the back of the net, and continued to score goal after goal.

This disheartened the young Panthers team. Harry had plenty of practice with some great saves. The defence also had their work cut out, with some good play at times.

A pleasant surprise was an attendance by Simon, who received a warm welcome.

Simon performed well in defence and provided some great saves while Harry was temporarily out of goals

In all a big defeat by the Colts….

But Hey!

Things can only get better!!

U12 B division

Lisvane Panthers: 2 - Splott Albion: 0
Venue: Parc Pontcanna
HT 1-0
Attendence : New Ground record 92 (Splott brought big travelling contingent!!!!!!!!!)

Saturday saw the Panthers defend their 100% record against also previously unbeaten Splott. On another glorious morning Panthers kicked off with a near full strength side. It became apparent early on that this was going to be a extremely competitive game with 2 combative sides getting stuck in, this showed in the few openings that arose in the first 20 mins.

The Splott No. 11 looked very pacy and it was necessary (thanks to a mobile call from 1 of the backroom staff on the furthest touchline) for the panthers to shuffle their back four, with Rhys Jones switching from the left to do a man-marking job!! The game flowed end to end with defences having the upper hand, until Jacob Chilcott picked up the ball 30 yards out, ran a little and took a speculative shot which just crept in side the far post.

Half time whistle and the boys in black went in for their oranges with a 1- nil lead.

Half time brought another change when Matt Davies had to leave the fray to be replaced at the heart of defence by James "Bess" Berridge whose dominance and ability to break up Splott attacks came to the fore. The second half continued as the first end to end, as the game wore on Jack Sanders was monumental in defence and Zach Bartlett ability to get a foot in really blunted Splott's forays.

From one good interpassing movement Matthew Hudson blasted the ball against the Splott Crossbar with the goalie well beaten. As the Splott defence scrambled the ball away, they began dropping off and laying deeper and deeper. This allowed the Panthers to start to run at the defence it was from one of these runs that Chilcott shot his team-mates into a 2 goal lead.

Everyone thought this would kill off Splott, but they then showed exactly why they had been unbeaten by coming right back and putting the Lisvane goal under pressure. On the one occasion beating Dave Gooding in goals only for Bessie to appear from nowhere and head off the line!!!!!!!!!

When ref Ian Morris (who no one had really noticed, so well had the game flowed) blew for full time it was a might relieved Panthers side who clung onto their winning streak, mainly to a good all round team effort.

Next Saturday sees us away (at Pontcanna!!!!!!) to Marlboro Red.

Cleared off the line!!

Saturday 30th September 2006

U12 A division

Panthers Black: 0 - Thornhill Athletic: 4
Venue: Coed Glas School
HT 0-2

The boys turned up wide eyed and full of enthusiasm.
The training session had gone well earlier in the week, thanks to our Tony Bibey who spent time with the team.
Andy and Tony briefed the boys on positions, tactics and most of all expectations prior to the match.
Some of the boys did not like their positions. We need to remember we don't like the big defeats either so let's all do it and smile.

The game got under way with the boys doing well in mid field and defence, no goals from either team after approx. 25 min. This was very encouraging, as the boy's performances were brilliant, especially Alex Williams.
Thornhill scored a great goal it has to be said, a lobbed kick that was just out of reach for Harry and descended way into the back of the net.
Leo has a knock to the face, and the match is temporarily put on hold. But these things can happen.
At the end of the first half Thornhill score another goal after a corner.

Despite these two goals the opposition were not doing as well as they expected, Andy and Tony provide support for the boys and reflect on the great performance at half time.
Second half starts and Thornhill have another lobbed kick at the goals and subsequently score. Fair do's these lobbed goals were good.
Leo has a very bad tackle, which was badly overlooked by the Ref.!! Leo is obviously upset and demonstrates this with great character.
The boys are still performing brilliantly, with Mike, Simon and Hugh in defence. The mid fielders being, James, Charlie, Yousef, Lloyd, & Mathew. Despite the goals incurred by Thornhill, we were playing just fine.
The anti climax to this game was the obvious off side that occurred, and the goal scored by Thornhill after this off side was overlooked by the Ref. One of our boys voiced an opinion., which was endorsed by the whole team. The Ref took offence?
I guess the truth hurts sometimes!!
David and Leo were becoming dangerous up front, as the game nears it end, with an inevitable goal in our sights. Unfortunately David takes a stud in the knee and has to come off.

In summary you boys were awesome well done.

U12 B division

Marlborough Red: 2 - Panthers Orange: 10
HT 2-2
Venue: Stade de Pontcanna
Attendence: 36

The Back room staff were a bit concerned on how the team would react to our first game on the road, for a while.
As it turned out the trip to the other end of Pontcanna did have an effect and the lads started with a very lack lustre display in the 1st half being held to 2 goals a piece. The 1st strike coming from striker Jake Chilcott and second from midfield maestro James Berridge.
Half time whistle couldn't come quick enough, we all had a kneel and listened to the ~Manager rant!!!!!!!
Luckily the players didn't listen but decided to come out second half and produce some quality passing which has become the hallmark of the side, whilst we've remained unbeaten throughout September. Special praise must go to Zach Bartlett who had his best 11-a side match to date, being constantly first to any loose ball in Midfield. Jack Sanders again tough tackling at right back which saw us shore up the defence second half. Alex Westwood also starting reading the Reds forward surges and kept intercepting and starting our passing moves from the back.
Second half saw the Marlborough goal come under siege James Berridge surging runs finished off a hatrick. Rhys Jones got a first of the season with a right footed shot (Rhys is left footed) from the edge of the box after a corner. The constant pressure made Marlboro put an own goal in and also concede a penalty, calmly side footed into the corner by Chilcott who added another 3 to finish with 5 to his tally. To coin that good old fashioned football phrase it really was a game of two halves!!!!!!!!!
At the team debrief it was decided that the difference was this Saturday we all played with the same coloured socks!!
Thanks Arthur it worked a treat.
One last piece of news it was with great pride that we heard Anne Humphreys won the Bells Whisky Manager of the month for September, by getting the whole squads subs by end of September, another first!!
1st Round of cup has seen us draw Radyr Rangers away next Saturday 7th October.

Under 12A Division

Panthers Black: 1 - Marlborough Whites: 2
Venue: Pontcanna

Panthers in all played very well in this challenging game.
We appeared to be the better and stronger team, which of course we are!
We gave the opposition constant pressure during the play, with our new player Jack taking his new role seriously with an unlucky attempt at goal.
Great play from Hugh, Simon , Leo and David but unfortunately just failing to score .
Finally an excellent pass from David provided an opportunity for Leo who managed to score.

The final score did not appear to be a reflection of the game today, as we saw some strong performances from our players

Lets look forward to the next game Panthers!

U12 B Division

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 7 - Marlborough Red: 0
HT: 2-0
venue : Old Pontcanna
Attendence : 41

This was the return match against our new friends Marlborough Red (Played 2 weeks ago).
This match can only be summed up in one word - Frustrating!!!!!!!!!

Our opponent's insisted on doing nothing other than playing an off side trap all game, by start of second half our Midfield were caught off side and towards the end even our defenders were looking 50/50!!!! The biggest thing with this it didn't seem to help either side get into the flow of the match.

Notable performances from the panthers were Tom Humphreys who played outfield for first time in 11 a side and got stuck in.
Edward Poynter playing his first game for 3 weeks showed some deft touches helping himself to a brace of goals.
Other scorers were James Berridge, Zach Bartlett and Jacob Chilcott (3).

So Panthers completed their first double of the season, but let's just hope next saturday's game against Pentwyn (Pontcanna again) can flow a little more and we return to the fluid football we have been playing.

Saturday 21st October 2006

Under 12A Division

Panthers: 0 - Heath Park Rangers: 6
Venue: Pontcanna
HT:0 -3

This game started off well with some excellent pressure from the young Panthers. The boys certainly looked the part at the start and had plenty of encouragement from Tony from the side lines. Unfortunately the boys found themselves 3 goals down at half time, and an effect on team moral.

The second half resulted in a few missed opportunities to equalise with Heath, but the opposition managed to score a further 3 goals. Despite all this the boys really tried hard and provided a good performance.
This game was much harder as there were no subs.

Never mind Panthers, lets try again at the next match. We will have subs, lets hope the outcome is better.

(Ade Thomas)

Under 12B Division

Lisvane Panthers Orange: 6 - Pentwyn Dynamos: 1
Venue: A damp Pontcanna
Attendence : 62
HT: 2 - 0

With it being a home fixture we got there early and got the corner flags and nets up. Then on a closer inspection of pitch we had a huge great puddle between penalty spot and edge of the area. After a brief chat with opposition coach we transferred to one of the middle pitches which was puddle free!!!
With this we started in the now customary Panthers way, rubbish 1st half no passing, no communication and shapeless formation, with some big games coming up against other unbeaten sides we really must shrug off this slow start problem!
With no indivduals making their mark on the game, Rob Osmond took his opportunity to fire his 2nd goal of the season in from long range, after a poor clearance from the goalie found himself stranded out of his goals. Just before half time James Berridge also fired in a 20 yarder. When the normally realiable Jake Chilcott fired over the bar at an open goal it just about sumed up our half. Half time oranges saw us turn around 2-0

The second half saw a little more urgency but it also saw our oppenents tackling worsen to a degree where there were some tasty challenges, thankfully nobody got injured. Again there was no individuals that really stood out but it was a more workmanlike performance second half. I think the football term was winning ugly!!!!!!!!!

Second half goals came from James Berridge his second and a hat-trick from Jacob Chilcott.
On the final whistle the panthers had completed the first 1/3 of the season unbeaten, well done boys.

In hindsight we will need to raise our game next saturday, weather permitting, when we in second place take on the top of the table Canton Rangers in what should be a mouth watering game. It should be a sell-out so get to Pontcanna early

(Adrian Chilcott)

Saturday 28th October 2006

Under 12B Division

Canton Rangers: 3 - Lisvane Panthers Orange: 2
Venue : A very wet Pontcanna
HT: 2-1

In a season of many firsts, (our 1st 11-a-side, competitive season) last Saturday we experienced our first defeat!

The eagerly awaited game (Canton were top , us second) started on a damp dreary morning, the panthers started very spritely beating their opponents to the 50/50 ball. After 15 mins of possesion and territory and couple of close shaves from the panthers, Canton countered with their first attack after a failed clearance their centre forward played a lovely chip from the edge of the box to score a great goal. 1-0 against the general run of play, but evidence that this was going to a tough game, against good opponents. Again straight from kick off Panthers enjoyed the majority of possesion thanks to hard tackling from Zack Bartlett and James Berridge. After another 10 mins of exerted pressure the Panthers finally found the back of the net. Again it was a goal right out of the top drawer with Jacob Chilcott lashing a great shot from the edge of the area into the top corner.
The last third of the half was a more even affair with both sides having sorties into each other areas, without ever looking like scoring. It was on one of these attacks when Canton's left winger who was dribbling away from goal towards the corner flag when the ref adjudged he was fouled - Penalty number 1.

Half time Oranges - Panthers trailing 1-2

Second half was the best performance by the Panthers Orange side this year, where we totally outplayed Canton so much so, David in goals didn't have a save to make.
The back four looked extremly solid with Tom Humphreys playing in the unaccustomed role of Left Back well, Rhys Jones showing his versaility at centre half. Zack and Bessie continuing to dominate and it was from a flowing passing movement that a clear chance was carved out for Ed Poynter who kept his composure to fire home an equaliser.
Entering the last quarter it was all one way traffic with only one side looking the likely winners, with time running out Subs Jo O'Grady and James Barry combined well to float in a lovely cross, Jacob got his head to the ball to watch the ball rebound back off the post!!!
With only 3 minutes left on the clock Canton, on probably their only visit to the Panthers penalty area in the second half, Zack challegened for a ball with his head turned away, the ref gave a penalty, even though none of the Canton players appealed!!! It even silenced the home crowd!!!!!!!!
Fair do to the Canton centre forward (he must of thought christmas had come early!) he helped himself to a hat-trick and gave his side the most unlikelikest of victories.

I took a straw poll of parents who agreed that this was amongst the best performance of the season, and if this is our strongest opposition then the boys can't wait for the return later in the season, where we can show footballing ability will shine through.
The loss means we now find our selves third in the table with 8 out of 22 games gone. Next Saturday sees us at home to Radyr Rangers at Pontcanna.

(Adrian Chilcott)

Saturday 4th November 2006

Under 12A Division

Panthers: 2 - Splott Albion: 2
Venue: Heol Y Delyn
HT: 1 - 0

This is the first time we have played here and against such a strong opposition. Our previous game with Heath Park Rangers ended up a struggle due to no Subs being available, only 10 players available during the second half, and the performance of the team being below expectations for the under 12 division. Yes a little harsh, but unfortunately true.

The Panthers Black team needed a reality check, a boost and subsequently numbers to enable us to manage our team at full strength for all our matches. So a warm welcome to some new players Nicholas Cugno, Gianni Miccoli, Jack Lewis and Christopher David. Read on, the team was transformed…… Also a surprise visit also from the Panthers Chairman Dave North!

The match kicked off and it was obvious that Jack and Nick were providing a strong influence on the team as midfielders. Good defence from both teams and great passing by the Panthers enabled David to score a great goal early in the first half.

Harry Squires was doing the business with some great kicks to midfield Splott hit back hard, but were unable to get past our defenders. The whole Panthers team were playing great football. Leo was himself taking on the opposition with enthusiasm. A real long kick from David enabled Leo to score a great goal but unfortunately this was not allowed due to a call for off side? Not that this put Leo off as he still goes on the attack. Splott were are obviously under pressure, I guess they had a bit of a surprise as this was a great first half. David took a ball to the face at the end of the first half and has to come off.

The coach congratulates the team on their performance and obviously wants more of the same please! Second half starts off and Jack Caswell scores our second goal after a great kick. Our ref was having a few issues out there with influence from the spectators. Things start going down hill here as a penalty is awarded to Splott. Splott take the opportunity and score. Harry obviously under pressure, but takes it well. The pace starts ramping up as Splott wish to equalise. The clock is not working for some reason as it kept on getting stuck as the ball went to touch. Free kick awarded to Leo who was tackled badly. The game seemed to go on a bit, and the very last minute of the extended game saw a weakness in our defence which was taken advantage of by Splott who managed to get their equalising goal.

Despite these unforeseen eventualities we appear to have the correct balance of talent in all our players. Our Ref hopefully has picked up a few things out there in this controversial match and look forward to an assertive performance next time. In terms of the players performance and the final outcome, the Panthers 12A team put on a great performance and gave the opposition a game to remember. Well done panthers you were great!

Under 12 Division Cup

Panthers: 5 - Marlboro Sports Whites: 1
Venue: De Pontcanna Everglades
HT: 2 - 1

Needless to say the venue resembled a swamp. Let’s hope we don’t get any Alligators snapping. Although apparently, its not just Alligators that snap! Moving on, this is a Cup game so it was important for us to do well in this game. A good turn out with adequate subs and strong players. The Marlborough team looked like they were serious as their ref checked out our goal net. Saying that he forgot to check the other one?? A minutes silence prior to the start of the game as a mark of respect, was a nice touch by the Marlborough Ref.

The game started off well as our team got down to the business. As we demolished their defence we moved quickly to score the first goal. This was as a result of David kicking from the line and an own goal from an unlucky Marlborough player. Marlborough fought back and gave us more or less the same. One of their forwards literally ran like the wind, there was not much that would catch up with him. This was an equaliser early on in this game

Jack Casswell scores but this was not allowed due to a call as offside. The boys are playing well and we are awarded a free kick. Hugh takes the kick and blasts the ball to Leo who manages to sink the ball into the net.

Half time and the Coach is optimistic as we are doing well. Back to business and the boys start the second half.

Leo is hungry still, as he scores to make it 3 -1 The performance still goes on as David gives a great kick into the corner of the goals which is secured by a header from a flying Jack Caswell making it 4 -1.

Most of the subs want some action as the game nears a close, coach substitutes all of them and the game goes on. James Gough was like a fully charged battery and is electric as he scores within a minute of playing making the final score a very pleasing 5 -1. Well done Subs!

The game was a great all round performance from both teams.

Congratulations Panthers you did really well!!

U12 A Division

Lisvane Panthers Black: 5 - Maindy: 2
Venue: Blackweir

The Goal Keeper ‘Harry’ was unable to play today and set a chain of events that could not have been foreseen. Andy called Ian Morgan to see if ‘Thomas’ was available?
Unfortunately this call was intercepted at 03:00 in the morning @ New Jersey (which is South of New York in the States) by Ian.
Whoops! Sorry Ian
Note: Players need to give notice if they are unable to play, to avoid the situations above.

Anyway this phone call turned out to be worthwhile as you will see in this report.

The first half started off well with our players passing well and making full use of the pitch and opportunities that existed.
The game started with a magnificent save by Thomas Morgan.
We succeeded with our first goal by Leo Llewellyn, who decided to score another shortly afterwards after a challenge from the Maindy defence.
Things really start to improve at the end of the second half as James Gough after a great tackle manages to score. This was followed then by an attack by Maindy and a great save again from Thomas Morgan!
Making it 3 – 0 to the Panthers

The Coach praises the team at half time, especially Thomas Morgan, and offers support to the players who were not up to their usual performance.

Maindy at the start of the second half catch us off guard and score. David Thomas passes well to Leo Llewellyn who manages to score making it 4 – 1
The coach starts to bring the Subs on and things start to pick up.
Leo scores another great goal which was an incredibly high ball which managed to find its way into the back of the goal. One observer who must know Tony well, shouted ‘Over Tony’s Wallet’!!
But were not sure if Leo actually kicked it that hard!! 5 – 1

Maindy manage to score again after breaking down our defence 5 – 2

The game continues to full time with some injuries sustained to the Maindy players, but most of all great performances from both teams.
Well done Panthers!

Under 12A Division

Panthers Black: 6 - Rumney AFC: 0
Venue: Pontcanna

Monsoon season over back to football at last!

Panthers were slow to start, however the game got better after some encouragement from the coach!

Most of the players especially in the 1st half lacked enthusiasm and their usual skill.
Hardly surprising really as it’s been a while.

However, the players got in to it and goals kept coming throughout the game, a hat trick for Leo, 2 from Hugh and 1 from Nick in all to secure a 6 nil win, just what we needed.

Well done all, more of the same next week!

(Ade Thomas)
