Hurray! We won again! |

Saturday 17th September 2005
The under 8's played in their first set of fixtures on Saturday 17th. We beat Thornhill 2-1, with goals by Seb Davies and Joshua Caswell.
We beat Capitol Truck 4-2, with goals again by Seb Davies , Joshua Caswell, Joshua Moore and Sean Bartlett. and we beat Pentyrch 2-0 with goals by Joshua Moore and Joshua Caswell.
All boys played very well and their hard work over the closed season paid off.
(Adam Caswell)
The boys continued their successful start to the season with a 3-0 win over Heol Hir with goals scored by Conor Hughes (last weeks man of the match), Seb Davies and Joshua Moore.
They held Capitol Truck to a 2-2 draw with goals by Hugo Souto and Joshua Moore. and then finished their morning against Maindy Corries and had a 1-1 draw with our only goal by Tom Williams. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS
(Adam Caswell)
Today's fixture at Ton Yr Ywen school seemed to bring the best out of the boys, with a few key players missing, they had a quiet first half against Capitol Truck Blue going into the second half with a 1-0 lead, the second half was a different story with Lisvane putting a further three goals in the net. Scorers were, Joshua Moore (last weeks man of the match), Michael Gooding, Daniel Melhuish and Sean Bartlett.
Our second game against Marlboro White brought more of the same, we came away with a 3 -0 win with goals from Daniel Pike and a further 2 from Sean Bartlett.
Our last game against a very young Heath Park Rangers brought us a 6 -0 win with goals from Hugo Souto, a further two from Michael Gooding who held our mid field together with some good runs and unselfish play; and a further three goals from our current top scorer Sean Bartlett. Must be something in the water! Keep it up boys.
(Adam Caswell)
We started with a poor performance today against a very good Urdd side playing in their first competitive fixture. They dominated most of the play and with Lisvane's poor defence at times we were 2-1 down towards the end of the game with our goal scored by Daniel Pike. Joshua Moore brought us level with another goal in the closing stages.
We played Heol Hir Youth Club in our second game and again we seemed to be playing with our head in the clouds, fortunately we came away with a win at 5-0 with goals from Sean Bartlett, Sebastian Davies, Joshua Moore(2) and Daniel Pike(1).
Our final game against Ty Celyn was a very scrappy game with lots of poor challenges and scrappy play from both sides; but Lisvane carried on their unbeaten run of 12 games with a 2-0 win, with both goals scored by Joshua Caswell.
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane under 8 started the day against a very good Maindy Corries Red team and managed to end the game with a draw at 1-1, with our only goal scored by Daniel Pike.
We continued our day with a rematch against the Urdd team from the previous week, coming away with a 2-1 win with Lisvane scoring all three goals , Joshua Moore scoring 2 for us and Daniel Pike with an own goal in the other net with some good defending from a corner!
We finished our day with a 4-0 win against Pentyrch White with goals scored by Hugo Souto, Joshua Moore, Sebastian Davies and Daniel Pike.
(Adam Caswell)
Wednesday 19th October 2005 With no fixture this weekend Lisvane under 8 played a friendly fixture at Court field against a second Thornhill under 8 team. This gave us the opportunity to play some of the players that will make up our new Lisvane orange team next month.
This was Thornhill's first competitive game and Lisvane came away with a win at 8 - 1. Goals were scored by Sebastian Davies(1), Conor Hughes(1), Joshua Caswell, Daniel Pike(2), Joseph Aziz, Sean Bartlett and Gordan Lai.
More importantly Thornhill players and parents all enjoyed what was their first venture into mini football, and a good competitive game was seen by all! thank you Thornhill, keep up the good work Lisvane.
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
After four weeks away due to poor weather the black team turned up on a cold November morning in good spirit, with four of our players opting to play football rather than go to a friends party. My apologies to that person!
We started our day against Grangetown Claret. We started where we left off before the break with a 6-0 win with goals from Sean Bartlett(2), Joshua Moore(2), Joshua Caswell and Sebastian Davies.
We played Danescourt YC in our second game of the day, in all honesty this was the toughest game we have played this season. With Danescourt excellent defence and courageous goalkeeping, keeping the ball out of the net we came away with a 1-0 win with the only goal by Sean Bartlett.
Our last game of the day came against our newly formed Lisvane orange team who despite the result played very well all morning. the black team came away with a 10-0 win with goals by Joshua Caswell(3), Conor Hughes, Daniel Pike(2),Joshua Moore(2) and Sebastian Davies(2).
Two of our players stood out today with excellent performance although not appearing as goal scorers today. Daniel Melhuish who played an excellent defensive game and who was today's captain, and Hugo Souto who played very well in right mid field and assisted with a lot of the goals of the morning , his performance gained him the captaincy for next week. Well done guys!
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
This was the first matches of
the season for the newly formed Lisvane Panthers Orange under 8's team.
After only a few weeks training together, the kids enjoyed their first games as Lisvane Orange team. Although we
lost the three matches we played there was a lot of determination and great
effort displayed, which we know will stand us well for the future.
For our first game of the day we played Danescourt YC. We started with a goal in the first minute and were ahead
for most of the first half. Unfortunately we were not able to keep the result at
that and went on to loose the game 5-1. Lisvane orange battled hard and offered
good opposition for the whole game despite the final score.
Lisvane man of
the match - Alexander Maldonado
Our opponents for the second match of the day were Grangetown BC claret. We were unable to score in this
match but showed some quality passing and strong battling on every challenge. We
felt that we lost this match due too inexperience rather than any thing else!
The final score was 1-0 to Grangetown
Lisvane man of the match - Owen Dawes
Our final game of the day was against our own Lisvane Black team. Although the Black team are showing
fantastic form at the moment, the Orange team did not give up until the final
whistle. They showed a lot of character and passion during the game and were
very close to scoring on a number of occasions. The Black team proved too strong
for us on our debut matches and went on to win the game 10-0.
Lisvane man of
the match - Ieuan Wilkins
Every player seemed to enjoy the games and the team worked very hard all morning, with the commitment shown by the players and a few more training sessions I feel that we will become a much stronger side in the near future.
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
On a very cold morning and on makeshift pitches at Blackweir the Black team started the day against Maindy Red, who had proven tough opposition earlier this season. We won the game 3 - 0 with goals scored by Daniel Pike from a corner, Sean Bartlett and Joshua Caswell.
Our second game of the day was against Pentyrch White, we won this game 2-1 with both our goals scored by Joshua Moore.
Our final game of the day was against Thornhill Athletic who once again proved they are a very strong team to play against. We came away with a 2-1 win which duplicated the battle we had with them in the opening game of the season. Our goals scored by Joshua Caswell and Joshua Moore who after scoring twice with his head today was deservedly given the man of the match award and becomes captain in our next set of fixtures.
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
The Orange team showed today that they are still learning, but more importantly showed a big improvement over the previous weeks performance and results. I am sure that with every player concentrating at training and giving their best at matches that our best performances are still to come.
Lisvane Orange 0 - Llanishen Dons 2
We started the day against Llanishen Dons and all players played with
enthusiasm. Oliver Taylor showed very good form as goalkeeper and James
Salaman made some very good runs with ball at feet after winning it in
defence. Ieuan Wilkins nearly scored on a couple of occasions and was a good
leader for the team during the match. For the second week running he was awarded
man of the match, well done Ieuan.
Lisvane man of
the match - Ieuan Wilkins
Lisvane Orange 2 - Marlboro Red 2
Congratulations to the team for coming back twice and scoring in this game. We
were unlucky in the end not to come away with a win but for the Marlboro goal
keeper making a fantastic save toward the end of the game. Great goals came
from Gordon Lai and Ieuan Wilkins.
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange 0 - Llanedeyrn Bulldogs 2
This was to prove one of our toughest games so far and we conceded two
goals far too easily in the first half, but with a change of personnel in the
second we were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. Very good effort
and determination was shown by Luke Parker and Oliver Taylor on every
challenge and a special mention to James Salamon in goals who made some great
saves!
Lisvane man of the match - James Salaman
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
Our first game of today was against a much improved Thornhill Blue team, and much respect goes to the coaching team and the boys themselves for the improvement they have shown over a very short period. Lisvane eventually won the game 4-0 it what was a very hard fought game by both sides. Goal scorers today were Daniel Pike (2) and Joshua Caswell (2).
Our second game of the day was against Grangetown Blue. Lisvane put in a good performance and came away with a 5-0 win, and very worthy winners. Goal scorers were ; Hugo Souto, Joshua Moore (3) and Daniel Pike.
Our final game today was against Llanrumney who seemed to have some very young players , though they played till the final whistle and never gave up , Lisvane won the game 6-1 with goals scored by Daniel Pike (2), Joshua Caswell, Hugo Souto (2) and another from Joshua Moore.
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
We played really difficult games on Saturday against more experienced teams. Despite that the kids really gave everything they have and did not give until the last final whistle of each match. Well done boys and let’s carry on working during training!
Lisvane Orange 1 - Llanedeyrn Bulldogs 3
In our fist game we played two very different halves. We conceded three goals
very quickly in the first half and did not manage to find our best play. However
during the second half the story was very different. We started passing the ball
and we put Llanedeyrn under a lot of pressure. Gordon scored a fantastic goal
and we nearly managed to score a second. Very good performance showed also by
Alex Maldonado and Owen Dawes helping the team in defence but in this match the
best player was Rhyan Martyn who really played very well and made his best
performance so far. Congratulations Rhyan, keep up the good work!
Lisvane man of the match - Rhyan Martyn
Lisvane Orange 0 - Marlboro Sports Black 3
Close match during the first half, however they were a far more experienced
team and they also played very well. We showed good attitude during the whole
match and did not give up. Good performance from Ieaun Wilkins, Gordon Lai and
Joseph Aziz who was unlucky not to score on two occasions. Special mention to
Oliver Taylor, our goalkeeper, who played a very good game with some outstanding
saves during the match.
Lisvane man of the match - Oliver Taylor
Lisvane Orange 0 - Capitol Truck Black 6
By the time we played this match the team was very tired after the effort made on the previous two games and we paid the consequences of that. Very good attitude showed by the team who once again and even with a result against us, did not stop fighting and challenging each ball. James Salamon helping in goals made great and brave saves.
Gordon Lai deserved the nomination for best player of this match for his perseverance, work and good play. Good results will come soon boys!
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
Our first match of the day was against Fairwater Juniors, who were unknown competition to us as this was our first fixture against them. They proved tough opposition as expected and our boys seemed to be concentrating on next weekend instead of this. We came away with a 2-1 win with both our goals scored by Seb Davies (2).
Our second match against Pentyrch White proved as successful. Against a team with some very big and physical players our boys battled hard and came away winners with a 2-1 win, our goals scored by Joshua Moore and Joshua Caswell.
Our final game of the day we played the hosts of the day Heath Park Rangers, who impressed us with the fantastic improvement they have made since our last meeting. The first half ended 0-0 in what was a very good game of football with action at both ends of the pitch. The second half carried on as the first until the deadlock was broken by Lisvane's newest recruit with his first goal, Connor Flynn. This seemed to light the Lisvane spark and we played on and scored a further two goals , Sean Bartlett (1) and Conor Hughes chipping the keeper in to the top right hand corner of the goal. HPR battled on and put the Lisvane defence under pressure; and were unfortunate not to score, but for some very brave keeping in a packed goal mouth by Joshua Caswell, this weeks man of the match.
I would like to on behalf of Lisvane Panthers Black team wish all our competitors, their parents and coaches a very happy Christmas and an even better New Year and look forward to the second half of the season!
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
Without any doubt this has been so far the best performance since we started playing just over a month ago. Everybody played really well and although we lost the matches the truth is that we were very unlucky and we should have won at least two of the games.
Lisvane Orange 0 - Marlboro Sports White 1
We spent the majority of the time keeping control of the ball. We passed very well and we fought for every ball but Marlboro held it very well. Many players were really brilliant and having not been for the goal post Joshua Moore would be celebrating now his first goal. Excellent match played by Owen Dawes, Alex Maldonado, Joseph Aziz, James Salamon and Rhyan Martin. Very well done boys!
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Lisvane Orange 0 - Capitol Truck Black 3
Fantastic first half against Capitol Truck where we turned around the situation with regards last weekend, unfortunately we did not manage to score. On their first occasion at the beginning of the second half Capitol scored a very good goal. Our passing continued being excellent and we kept the pressure during the match, playing most of the time in their half of the pitch. What a difference Lisvane compared to the match we lost last week!
Our defence was very good lead by Owen Dawes with excellent challenges made by Alex Boyd. Also were very good Gordon Lai and Alex Le Grys, both being very close to score.
Lisvane man of the match - Owen Dawes
Lisvane Orange 0 - Grange BC Blue 2
We were really unlucky on this game; the team really deserved not just a draw but a victory in my opinion. Good effort from Faris Taleb on goals and Jake Boyd and Oliver Taylor, both showed a lot of determination challenging the ball.
Their goalkeeper saved at least three plain occasions with Ieuan Wilkins nearly scoring twice in the match following great runs with the ball.
Lisvane man of the match - Ieuan Wilkins
Lisvane Orange you should be very pleased with the work you have done and carry on working like this and training hard on Fridays. I am sure victories will arrive very soon!
Keep practising during the holidays and on behalf of the U8 coaches have a Merry Christmas!
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
Our first game of the day was against a much improved Marlboro Red team. They
took an early lead in the first half through some poor defending on a very
bad Tremorfa Park pitch. They soon capitalised on that with a further two
goals in the first half, and Lisvane went into the break 3 - 0 down. Lisvane
come out in the second half with a bit of composure and put Marlboro under a
lot of pressure and contained them in their half of the pitch for the rest of
the game. Lisvane managed to get two goals back but failed to get the draw in
a game that was full of action. A very cometative game where Marlboro came
away worthy winners.
Final score Marlboro Red 3 - Lisvane Panthers Black 2 ( Joshua Caswell- 2)
Man of the match - Connor Flynn
Our second game was against Marlboro Black team who came out showing why they
are so successful. Their passing interplay and movement off the ball taught us
a hard earned lesson by half time lisvane were 1- 0 down and the second half
left us in very much the same position we conceded an own goal under pressure,
and then went on to concede a further goal later in the game. Taking nothing
away from Marlboro they played very well with some old heads on very young
shoulders, and we look forward to trying to redress the balance in next weeks
fixture at Ton yr Ywen school.
Final score Marlboro Black 3 - Lisvane Panthers 0
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Our last game of the day was against a very young St Albans team and gave us
the opportunity to try out some changes of position. We took an early lead and
went 5-1 up by half time. As well as reaching our 100th goal of the season!
The second half brought more of the same and we scored a further 3 goals to
win the game.
Final score St Albans 1 - Lisvane Panthers 8(
Joshua Caswell-4, Daniel Pike-1, Sebastian Davies-1, Joshua Moore-1, Daniel
Melhuish-1)
Lisvane man of the match - Michael Gooding
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
All of us were looking forward playing our next matches after the Christmas break. We won our first match and we scored four goals in total, congratulations to all of Lisvane players
Lisvane Orange 0 - Rumney White 1
A lot of effort was put in by all the players trying to play on a pitch which was in very bad condition after all the recent rain. Our defence was one of the best so far this season with special mention to Owen Dawes, Alex Maldonado and Luke Parker and also to Oliver Taylor who made several good saves during the match. James Solomon was fantastic running with the ball negotiating opponents as they came. Once again the team gave everything they had, well done!
Lisvane man of the match - James Solomon / Alex Maldonado
Lisvane Orange 1 - Rumney White 3
One of the teams did not show up on Saturday and therefore Ty Celyn was short of players, we and Rumney decided to lend some players in order that all players could play three games. This match was played with one less field player and we felt that more than Rumney who played very well and deserved the victory. Congratulations to Joseph Aziz who scored his first goal of the season, Alex Boyd our keeper this match was simply excellent despite the defeat and is awarded man of the match for the first time.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Boyd
Lisvane Orange 3 - Ty Celyn 1
We dominated the match completely and if the pitch would have been in better condition possibly we would have scored even more goals. Great performance by everybody but special mention to the scorers Rhyan Martyn (also showing excellent control and passing skills), Joshua Moore (great finish) and Joseph Aziz.
Lisvane man of the match - Rhyan Martyn / Joseph Aziz
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
Our first game today was against Heath Park Rangers, Lisvane came out very strong and put HPR under a lot of pressure going into the second half 2-0 up. The second half was very much the same as the first with Lisvane putting HPR under a lot of pressure again scoring a further 3 goals.
Final score HPR 0- Lisvane Panthers Black 5
(Daniel Pike,Joshua Caswell,Joshua Moore.2,and Seb Davies)
Man of the match - Seb Davies
Our second game was against Marlboro black who we lost to last week, in this weeks match Lisvane were much more determined and vastly improved our game over the previous weeks performance. We conceded a goal in the first half but attacked well into the second half, unfortunately Marlboro put us under pressure to get two late goals through some sloppy defending by Lisvane.
Final score Marlboro Black 3- Lisvane Panthers Black 0
Man of the match - Hugo Souto
Final score Thornhill green 0 - Lisvane Panthers Black 6
Our last match of the day was against Thornhill Green in what was there first
set of fixtures. Although they accounted themselves very well, Lisvane's age
and experience proved a little too strong for them, but i am sure the
experience will stand them in good stead for rest season. The coaches
expectation was that Lisvane may have used this opportunity to put into play
some of the passing and moving skills that we train so hard to do.
Unfortunately the team decided not to listen and we had a team of seven
strikers on the pitch.
(Hugo Souto, Connor Flynn-2, Joshua Caswell, Joshua Moore-2.)
Most improved player and next weeks captain was Connor Flynn
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
Lisvane Orange 0 - Llanedryn Bulldogs 1
This was the third time we played against Bulldogs this season and it was the best performance against them and possibly our best match of the season despite the defeat. We controlled the game, with good passing and defended strongly (well done to Faris Talib, Luke Parker and Owen Dawes and our goalkeepers Oliver Taylor and Alex Boyd) and we created enough opportunities to win. All the credit to their goalkeeper who saved several plain chances, especially an excellent shoot from Joshua Moore from outside the area. Unfortunately they scored in the only chance they had and won but I was very pleased with the team and the display showed. Well done Lisvane!
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Lisvane Orange 0 - Grange Blue 3
We did not play as well as the first match and before we realised we conceded three goals in a few minutes. Just before their goals we nearly scored on a couple of occasions from Alex Le Grys and Rhyan Martyn but we were unlucky. The team reacted in the last part of the game with courage and better passing but Grange got a well deserved victory at the end.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Maldonado
Lisvane Orange 5 - Rumney White 0
We controlled the match from the beginning to the end. Only a few weeks ago we lost against this team 1-0, today however was a different story. We are starting to see the results of the good effort the kids are putting during training sessions. Well done to the whole team and in particular to all who scored today, Joseph Aziz (2) (our top scorer now!), Faris Talib (excellent match), Ieaun Wilkins (good finishing) and Alex Maldonado (first goal this season). Congratulations Lisvane!
Lisvane man of the match - Faris Talib
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
Lisvane Orange 1 - Rumney Blues 2
We did not manage to be in the match until the very end of it. Rumney scored twice and it was only then when we started to play like we have been doing it for the last few weeks. The highlight of the match was our goal, we got the ball in defence and Joshua Moore nicely set it for Ieaun Wilkins who finished it fantastically. Rumney put a lot of character and courage and took the game at the end.
Lisvane man of the match - Owen Dawes
Lisvane Orange 0 - Ty Celyn 0
Two weeks ago we won against Ty Celyn 3-1. Today, we suffered in the cold temperature, which did not help us and despite creating plain occasions (Alex Le Grys with the best one!) we were not fortune enough. Gordon Lai was excellent on goals helping the team when it was most needed
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange 2 - Heath Park Rangers 1
Ironically we played our best match against the strongest team and when we were more tired and cold we felt. I can only congratulate the whole team for the big effort, determination and good work they did during this match. Everybody made a sacrifice for the team. We dominated the first half and most of the second, we scored firstly after a good combination between Rhyan Martyn and Gordon Lai and a few minutes later we got a second goal from Alex Le Grys who also played his best match this season (well done Alex!). Rangers came back strongly in the second half, playing really well and putting as under a lot of pressure. Lisvane held it and we took our very well deserved victory against a very good Rangers team.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Le Grys
It was very difficult to play today with the cold temperature we had. The team put a lot of effortassion. All players keep progressing week after week and today, despite the difficult conditions and just nine players, we achieved our best results so far on a Saturday with a victory, a draw and a close defeat. Many congratulations Lisvane Panthers.
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
Our first game of the day was against a much improved Urdd team, on very big pitches at Llandaff fields. This was very strange as it left under 11 players playing on the smaller pitches at this venue. As they say that's football!.
We turned up today with a minimum eight players and tried a new formation of players, which for us worked very very well. Using last Saturday's break from matches as an opportunity to take an extra training session, the boys finally proved that they can play as a very talented footballing side instead of a side with very talented individual players.
Lisvane panthers 0- Urdd 0
The team played very well and put Urdd under a lot of pressure, although we never managed to put the ball in the back of the net.
Lisvane Panthers 1- Llanishen Dons 0
Our second game was against Llanishen Dons in what was our first fixture against them this season, the lads continued to play in the same formation and with the same desire to move the ball around. There were a few attacks by the Lisvane boys which the Dons defence and goalkeeper dealt with effectively, but eventually Joshua Caswell broke the deadlock and scored late into the second half with a right foot into the top right hand corner.
Lisvane Panthers 0- Marlborough black 0
Our last game today was against a very good Marlborough black team. With depleted numbers we decided to play a strong keeper behind our very strong defence and have an attacking midfield. This week we took the game to Marlborough and did not allow them to play the wide balls that had been our undoing over previous weeks. All in all we had a very hard physical game and gave as good as we got and felt we maybe had more chances to score than our opposition.
We have not named a man of the match this week due to the fact that with three very tough matches, minimum numbers to play with, trying out new formation along with the fact that we were on very large pitches. Every single player deserves to get the award. Both Bryan and I were very very proud of the way the team ( AND I THINK WE CAN NOW CALL IT A TEAM) performed and battled for each and every ball in all three games. it showed that although not every player scores goals, every player has a part to play in a successful team. Well done guys ! Keep it up.
(Adam Caswell)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
Lisvane Orange 1 - Maindy Corries Red 6
We started playing against a more experience and stronger team than ours. Maindy Corries scored five goals on the first half too easily and without much opposition and played very well and scored some great goals. In the second half we showed our best version and after an initial goal from Maindy we put them under a lot of pressure and towards the end Alex Le Grys managed to score a good goal. Our goalkeeper despite the final result was excellent (well done Alex). Even with the result it will be a good experience for the future.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Boyd
Lisvane Orange 2 - St Albans 3
Shame we lost this match as although we did not play our best, we dominated most of the game. We took the lead in the second half, however we relaxed and in the space of two minutes they scored three times. When we wanted to react it was too late. Well done to the scorers (Joshua Moore and Ieaun Wilkins) but in particular to Gordon Lai who kept fighting and working for the team during the whole match.
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange 5 - Thornhill Red 0
Our second highest victory this season was against a very young and inexperience Thornhill team. We spent most of the game attacking and although we scored in five occasions we could have played better. Congratulations to Alex Le Grys for his good effort during the three matches to James Solomon for his first goal of the season and for his hard work and also to Ieaun Wilkins and Gordon Lai who scored 2 goals each on this match.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Le Grys
Boys, the moment we relax and we get over confident we pay the consequences and we loose. The team is getting stronger but we still have many things to learn and to improve. It is good to see that we can challenge every match now and that we can win games but it is more important not to forget that we should continue working hard during training, giving our best during games as you have been doing it and most important to enjoy playing football!
(Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
Today’s fixtures were played at a cold but sunny Blackweir. With a squad of just 8, due to previous commitments and illness, the boy’s had a tough morning ahead of them.
Lisvane Panthers Black 3, Thornhill Athletic 0
Our first game was against a young and inexperienced Thornhill Athletic side. The Panthers quickly set out their stall for what turned out to be a very successful morning. Daniel Pike (1) opened the scoring as the boys put into practice all of the passing skills that they had been working on over the last few weeks. Lisvane dominated most of the game with further goals from Sean Bartlett (1) and Hugo Suto (1) completing a comprehensive victory.
Lisvane Panthers Black 8, Radyr Rangers 0
Our next match was against the more experienced Radyr Rangers. We had not played them yet this season, so were unsure of what to expect. However, our reservations were quickly dispelled as the boys set to work on what proved to be one of the most comprehensive victories so far this season. Goals came thick and fast from Daniel Pike (2), Hugo Suto (1), Conor Hughes (1), Joshua Moore (Header! 1), Connor Flynn (2) and finally with a strong contender for goal of the season, a goal from Sean Bartlett(1).
Lisvane Panthers Black 6, Thornhill Green 0
Finally we were to face another young Thornhill side. This time Thornhill Green. With the boys in such a rich vein of form, they were not going to allow any slip ups and quickly set about the task ahead. With some passing and movement that would not seem out of place in premiership, Lisvane strolled to another convincing victory. Goals from Michael Gooding (1), Joshua Moore (1), Conor Hughes (1) and a well deserved hat trick from Daniel Pike (3) finished off a very satisfying morning.
In conclusion it was great to see the boys playing as a team. The passing and movement off the ball was a joy to watch. With the defence led by Daniel Melhuish it was also encouraging to have kept another clean sheet. Today’s man of the match and therefore captain next week is Daniel Pike with 6 goals in total. Also, a special mention has to go to Connor Flynn, who, with a brace of goals today, has to go down as most improved player.
Keep it up guys!
(Martyn Pike)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
Lisvane Orange 0 - Marlboro White 1
We played a good match despite the result, our first half was very well played with a lot of passing and keeping the possession of the ball most of the time. We were very unlucky on the goal they scored but the team should be very happy with the effort they put in. Alex Le Grys, Faris Taleb and Luke Parker in defence were very good making many good tackles and playing with a lot of determination. Alex Boyd our goalkeeper was once again brilliant
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Boyd
Lisvane Orange 1 - Rumney Blues 0
This match was a very difficult one against a very strong Rumney team. Rumney put as under a lot of pressure on the second half but we also deserved the victory because we did not give up and kept fighting for each ball. Gordon Lai, James Solomon, Ieuan Wilkins and Alex Maldonado played a very good match and a good goal from Joshua Moore at the end of the first half was enough to claim our victory of this weekend.
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Lisvane Orange 0 - Grange Claret 3
Not a very good first half against Grange meant three easy goals for them. Grange has improved a lot since we first played at the beginning of the season but I am sure also that we can do better for the future boys. Our second half was better played with more passing and some good chances to score. Rhyan Martyn played very well this match and so was Alex Maldonado in defence but specially James Solomon with his continuous and priceless runs!

Lisvane Black 3, Danescourt YC 0
On a very windy Saturday morning; Lisvane panthers under 8 black took to the field at this seasons regular haunt of Ton Yr Ywen school. The morning kicked off against the Danescourt youth club, Lisvane started in very good fashion with the passing game that we practice so hard to play. The first half went very well with Lisvane's striker Joshua Caswell putting the ball in the back off the net with two fantastic strikes. Lisvane went into the second half with a 2 - 0 lead and continued to pile on the pressure with Joshua Moore scoring to give Lisvane a deserved 3-0 win
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Caswell
Lisvane Black 3, HPR 0
Our second game was against Heath Park Rangers. With respect to HPR we always try and play a strong defence in this fixture as they always seem to be able to break away in midfield and attack our goal. This time it seemed to work very well with the first half being the tough battle it always is; and the only goal coming from Hugo Souto to give Lisvane a 1-0 lead going into the second half. The second half was equally as tough but Lisvane continued their passing game and broke through the HPR defence with Joshua Moore scoring twice to end the game winning 3-0.
Lisvane man of the match - Hugo Souto
Lisvane Black 6, Thornhill Red 1
Our final game of the day was again against a very young Thornhill red team. We decided to play this game with a lone defender opting to push the team forward to attack to try and use the ball skills we practise in training. With Thornhill contained deep in their own half Lisvane mounted a surging attack on their goal showing complete dominance. Joshua Caswell scored twice in the first half. With a break away run from the Thornhill striker from well inside his own half to take on three very strong Lisvane players and their keeper to score a fantastic well deserved goal that could only be matched by Ryan Giggs goal against Arsenal (you know the one i mean) to take the half time score to 2-1. The second half was very comfortable for Lisvane who scored a further 4 goals form Seb Davies,Hugo Souto, Daniel Pike and Sean Bartlett. To finish the game with a convincing 6-1 win.
Lisvane man of the match - Seb Davies (Who's heading of the ball is done with the confidence of any under 11 player in the Cardiff and District League-keep it up Seb)
OUR OVERALL MAN OF THE MATCH AND CAPTAINCY NEXT WEEK HAS TO GO TO SEAN BARTLETT FOR HIS ALL ROUND GOOD PERFORMANCE TODAY.

Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Orange
We had our best weekend in terms of results so far, not allowing any of the other teams to score. At times it was difficult to play due to the cold and windy conditions but the boys gave once again their best, enjoying the games and controlling the “tempo” of each macth. Congratulations Panthers!
Lisvane Orange 1 - Grange C Blue 0
Very good performance by the whole team against Grange C Blue. Last time we played against them we lost 2-0 (although we deserved a victory). We were very focused on the match with everybody working hard and keeping the ball on our side most of the time. The score was short compared to the occasions we had and Gordon Lai gave us the victory with a great shot from outside the box. Gordon also deserves to be man of the match for his good leadership in the match showing a lot of character.
Good team effort boys!
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange 0 - Marlboro White 0
Although we did not win we dominated the match and possibly with some luck we would have scored on a couple of occasions. Good discipline shown by the whole team with an excellent performance by Joseph Aziz in defence driving the ball and doing some very good passing. Rhyan Martyn, Joshua Moore and Alex Maldonado also worked very well for the team and had chances to put the ball in the net. The best was to see the team in control of the situation and working very hard.
Lisvane man of the match - Joseph Aziz
Lisvane Orange 0 - Capitol Truck Blue 0
On our last match once again we dominated and control it completely. Alex Le Grys and Joshua Moore made great shots from outside the box and Ieuan Wilkins also had a few chances running with the ball from midfield positions, good work boys!
Owen Dawes and Oliver Taylor gave a lot of confidence to the team in defence and James Salomon was a great help as goalkeeper (thanks James). The team showed a good form and although the passing could have been better we were strong in defence and never gave the impression that we could loose the match. Alex Maldonado is man of the match for his overall work on the three matches, congratulations Alex.

Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
At a bright but chilly Court Field, an apprehensive Lisvane team warmed up to face their nemesis Marlboro Sports Black! Beaten twice and drawn once, the boys were nervous about what could happen this time. As we kicked off facing the slope, all nerves quickly vanished as the boys chased and battled for every 50/50 ball. Half time came and at 0-0 we knew we had the upper hand. The second half can only be described as ‘one way traffic’. Wave after wave of Lisvane pressure kept the bedraggled Marlboro on the ropes. Finally, following another great corner from Daniel Pike, the ball rebounded from the cross bar and fell to Josh Caswell to hit home the one, and what proved to be, vital goal to win the tie 1-0. I don’t know who was more relieved, the boys or the fantastic support on the touchline.
It is very difficult to name a man of the match, as every one played as a team with one thing in common, the will to win. Very well done boys!!
Lisvane Panthers Black 1 Marlboro Black 0
Concentration seemed to be the key word in the two remaining games. Understandably, the boys felt that they had done the hard work for the day, and took their ‘eye off the ball’ However, we had to play a much improved Maindee Corries White. Again we started the game playing uphill. Maindee used their two strikers well, as they quickly scored two simple goals, and gave themselves a deserved 2-0 half time lead. Downhill in the second half gave the boys the advantage they needed and began the comeback. After continuous pressure Daniel Pike chipped the goal keeper, for what would have been a great comeback goal, only to be denied by a blatant hand ball on the line by their last defender. The referee rightly awarded what would have been an obvious goal, and this began a mini revival. Minutes later, not content with scoring the goal of the season against Thornhill three weeks ago, Sean Bartlett riffled in a shot from just inside the halfway line to stun Maindee and take a well deserved draw from the jaws of defeat. In fact if Hugo Suto had his boots on the right feet (Joe’s fault) Lisvane could have scored two or three more!
Man of the match has to go to Sean for the goal alone! Well done.
Lisvane Panthers Black 2 Maindee Corries White 2
To end an already successful morning, our final opponents were Grangetown BC Blue. The Grangetown tactics on the pitch left a lot to be desired from a football purist. However the boys showed true character and battled bravely in the first half, again playing uphill. Content with a clean sheet at half time, expectation with the incline in our favor was high, for a final assault in the second half. Several chances came and went, but no one could finish, frustration crept in and concentration lapsed again. Eventually Grangetown held us to a well deserved 0-0 draw.
Lisvane Panthers Black 0 Grangetown BC Blue 0
To end on a positive note, the boys kept another clean sheet against Grangetown, and played as a team throughout the morning. I really believe that now we have buried our demons against Marlboro, we can only go from strength to strength. With this in mind, again, it is difficult to single out a man of the match. Therefore I nominate all 10 players for the award. It was truly a team effort led by today’s captain Sean Bartlett and I see no reason why he shouldn’t retain the armband for next week.
Well done all of you.

Lisvane Orange 3 - Pentyrch Rangers Red 0
Very good starting match played by the team. During the whole game there was a feeling of watching a real team, with good passing, good defending and good attacking. All the players played very well and the control of the match was excellent. Joshua Moore once more time, was brilliant as left midfielder and together with Alex Maldonado they both dominated the left wing. Joseph Aziz goal was a consequence of shear determination whilst Alex Le Grys with further two goals on the match showed again great skills with the ball. James Salomon, Rhyan Martyn and Alex Boyd played also a very good game. Very well done to all of you boys!
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Lisvane Orange 2 - Thornhill Green 0
We played our second match against Thornhill Green and it was very similar to the previous one. The team showed a good form doing things very well with Alex Le Grys scoring his third goal of the morning not long after the match started (excellent work Alex!). Shortly later Ieaun Wilkins scored our second goal after a tremendous run and a great finish (fantastic play Ieaun!). Towards the end of the second half Thornhill put us under a lot of pressure, however the team defended very well, worked very hard and did not concede any goals. Faris Taleb and in particular Jake Boyd made a great contribution in defence and he deserves for the first time to be man of the match, congratulations Jake.
Lisvane man of the match - Jake Boyd
Lisvane Orange 0 - Thornhill Blue 3
After the good performances of the first two matches it was quite disappointing to loose against Thornhill Blue. They were the strongest team we played on Saturday and they played very well but unfortunately for us we were very tired by the time we faced them.
Lisvane did as much as they could and this time I was the one to blame for not allowing enough rest to each of the players during the first games (sorry Panthers)
Oliver Taylor and Owen Dawes were of a great help in defence and Alex Boyd is man of the match for his good work as goal keeper during the three matches.

Sevenoaks park was the venue for today's battles, mid march and very cold and windy.
Our first match of the day was against Llanedeyrn Bulldogs in a long awaited fixture and the only team in our division we were yet to face.
Lisvane Black 2 - Llanedeyrn Bulldogs 0
The game started well for us and we started to take the football to the Bulldogs, with some nice passing moves and movement off the ball we soon had an advantage with a goal from Joshua Moore. The game continued with several shots from Lisvane at the Bulldogs goal only for their keeper to pull out some good saves to stop us increasing our lead. The second half continued in the same manner with the Bulldogs putting our defence and keeper under very little pressure. In the second half; with some strong attacking moves Hugo Souto followed captain Sean Bartlett's example and fired a left foot shot from way out to beat the outstretched Bulldogs keeper into the top of the goal.
Man of the Match - Hugo Souto
Lisvane Black 4 - Ty Celyn 0
The second game this morning was against Ty Celyn. Lisvane continued to play their passing game and with some crisp attacking moves attacked the Ty Celyn goal. Our first goal came from Seb Davies. Many chances came and went with some big shots from Dan Pike only being stopped by the steel of the goals. Joshua Caswell secured his third goal of the match from yet another big shot from Dan pike diverting the ball into the back of the net, to get a comfortable win for Lisvane.
Man of the Match - Joshua Caswell
Lisvane Black 6 - Grangetown 0
Our final game of the day was against Grangetown who very quickly went down to an own goal followed by another goal from Dan Pike to take the half time score to 2-0. from there on in the Grangetowns team's concentration was gone and they conceded a further four goals from , Joshua Moore, Conor Hughes, Seb Davies and a further goal from Dan Pike Sending the keeper the wrong way for an easy goal.
Man of the Match - Conor Hughes
Our Captains arm band this week is to go to Joshua Caswell for next weeks fixtures. For his goal poaching and all round fair play.

Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
At a new venue for us today of Cefn
Onn School the Lisvane Panthers played what the coaches felt was the most
comfortable team games of the season so far. With each and every player on
the pitch showing what a talented group of lads we have. Which also makes it
very difficult to choose MOM's and next week captain?
Thornhill White 0 - Lisvane Panthers Black 1
This game proved to be the most challenging
of the three games today with the Thornhill team improving every time we
play them. With this in mind the game was very evenly matched throughout
with both the Lisvane and Thornhill defence keeping the teams level. Sean
Bartlett scored the only goal of the game with what is becoming his trade
mark shot from out side the box! giving Lisvane there first win of the day.
MOM - HUGO SOUTO
Heol Hir 0- Lisvane Panthers Black 3
This game again a very good performance
from the Lisvane team whose passing play is beating a lot of their opponents
this season. We quickly took a lead from a big Dan Pike shot firing into the
top of the net after a surging run by the Lisvane midfield and strike force.
The second half brought more of the same with another goal from Joshua Moore
and our third of the match from Michael Gooding firing the ball into the
back of the net from a disastrous drop of the ball from a very good Heol Hir
goal keeper.
MOM - MICHAEL GOODING
Marlboro Red 1 - Lisvane Panthers Black 4
The final game of the day was against the
Marlboro Red team who gave us our first taste of defeat just after
Christmas, but today was not going to be the case with Lisvane now firing on
all cylinders. We very quickly put the Reds under a lot of pressure with a
fantastic passing game. The game was played at a fast pace and Lisvane soon
had a 3 - 0 lead with goals from Sean Bartlett, Joshua Moore and Daniel Pike
who's later near perfect corner delivery gave Michael Gooding his second of
the day. Marlboro got a late consolation goal from a strike that went
through the legs of our diving goal keeper.
MOM - DANIEL PIKE
Ordinarily the captains armband would be given to the person who's performance was greatly improved or outstanding on the day, unfortunately that person is not available to play next Saturday ( MICHAEL GOODING) so the captains armband will go to DANIEL PIKE next week with Michael to take the armband in the following set of fixtures.
WELL DONE GUYS, GOOD TEAM WORK, KEEP IT UP.

Lisvane Orange 0 - Ty Celyn 0
The boys played very well this match, we had our chances but we did not manage to put the ball in the net. We dominated the game and everybody did a good job working hard for the team. Ty Celyn has improved a lot since the beginning of the season and did not make things easy for us at all. With a bit of luck we would have scored but all of us should be pleased with the performance.
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange 0 - Maindy Corries Red 1
This is the second time we played against Maindy Corries and the first time we did we lost 6-1. This time the match was well fought and Lisvane played very well deserving a better result, however their goalkeeper was very good and did not concede any goals on our many attempts. We were not very “clever” when they scored with four of our players defending just one player from Maindy who still managed to control and score from a close position.
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Lisvane Orange 0 - Grange BC Blue 5
We were all over the place on this match, we have played against Grangetown several times this season, beating them last time, but on this occasion we did not play as we normally do. Our defending was particularly poor allowing too many easy goals, our and if we do not play our best we suffer the consequences Lisvane.

Venue: Ton Yr Ywen School.
Lisvane Panthers Black 5 AFC Rumney White 0
On a bright but breezy spring morning, the soon to be developed Ton Yr Ywen playing field provided perfect playing conditions for the boys to show off their ability.
AFC Rumney White were our first opponents of the morning. We began with the slope in our favour, and wasted no time in overwhelming this young and inexperienced Rumney side. Josh Moore opened the scoring with a neat finish, and Michael Gooding set a captains example by finishing twice more before half time to give the Panthers a 3-0 half time lead.
After a couple of substitutions the second half began as the first half finished. Daniel Pike riffled home a stunning effort from outside the box that would have give Sean Bartlett’s goals a run for their money! Then right on full time Connor Flynn got a touch on a long shot from Seb Davies to round off a convincing victory.
Lisvane Panthers Black 0 Llanederyn Bulldogs 0
Our next match was against the now infamous Llanederyn Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs had obviously spent time licking their wounds since the last time we met, as this time they came out with a game plan and stuck to it. Unlike The Panthers it has to be said.
The first half I am afraid to say has to go down as the worst performance so far this season. We lost our shape and with it our game plan. The Bulldogs could smell this and it seemed to inspire them and they must have been happier with the 0-0 score line at half time.
The second half began with the Bulldogs continuing with the tactics used for most of the first half. Some erratic challenges by Llanederyn, left some players spitting feathers at times, and tempers frayed. Foul play obviously spurs some members of the team on (Conor Hughes) and somehow this seemed to give the Panthers more confidence, and put Llanederyn on the back foot. The game turned and the Panthers finished the game the stronger side. Unfortunately time was against us and the score stayed at 0-0.
Lisvane Panthers Black 2 Heath Park rangers 0
Finally we were to play a regular fixture in Heath Park Rangers. Although HPR have improved during the season, the strength in depth of Lisvane proved to be too much for this developing Heath side.
It was a chance to rebuild our confidence as the boys played some loveley football that proved that the game against Llanederyn must have been a 'blip'!
Josh moore once again opened the scoring from a goal mouth scramble, and two or three great saves from the debutant of the day Ethan, gave us a much deserved 1-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw the boys 'going through the motions' with some neat and at times skillfull play, and defence performed well as our goalkeepers were rarely threatened in this one sided game. Hugo Suto finished the job with a well deserved job to seal the victory 2-0.
It was a mixed day, that saw us win 2 and draw 1 and keep yet 'another' clean sheet for the day!, I suppose as coaches and supporters of the boys we come to expect perfection every game, that's probably why we were disappointed with our performance against Llanederyn. We had some great performances on the day and showed at times what we can really do when we put our minds to it. However we made some silly mistakes and we need to learn from them. As a result we have decided not to award a man of the match this week, and award the captains arm band to the best performance at training week after next.
Well done lads!

Lisvane Orange 1 - Capitol Black 3
Despite the result, this game was very well played by the team. We were very unlucky on the first half as not only we missed a good couple of chances to score but also we scored an own goal. On the second half they took the initiative and score twice but after a while we were back playing our best and even scoring from a free-kick well executed by Gordon Lai. The best players of the match were Gordon, Joseph Aziz, Ieaun Wilkins and Joshua Moore who deserves to be man of the match for his excellent passing and work during the whole game
Lisvane man of the match - Joshua Moore
Lisvane Orange 0 - Rumney Blues 5 & Lisvane Orange 0 - URDD 5
Both games were very similar…and so was the final score! We can not say that we gave our best or that we played as we know. It is true that Rumney Blues was a very good team on Saturday, but we have played against teams like them in the past and played far better than what we did. On this occasion we were all over the place and the final score is a consequence of that.
URDD showed far more determination and passion than us. Maybe they are not as good as Rumney or Capitol but they put a lot of enthusiasm during the match and deserved the victory.
Unfortunately this is the first time this season I can not name anybody as man of the match on neither of the games.
We will have to work harder during training boys, that is how we started to win games this season and that is how we will display our best football again.
Panthers, have a great Easter holiday and see you all back on training in a couple of weeks!

Lisvane Panthers 2 - Llanrumney Utd 0
For our first match of the day we played Llanrumney Utd. Lisvane started
playing some very good football and passed the ball well putting Llanrumney
under some pressure. Lisvane took the lead with a goal from striker Joshua
Caswell and maintained the pressure on the Llanrumney goal. With some good
saves from the Llanrumney keeper the half time score remained 2-0. Second
half was very much the same with Lisvane attacking uphill against the Llanrumney
goal. With Joshua Caswell getting a second goal to win the game for
Lisvane 2-0.
MOM - JOSHUA CASWELL
Lisvane Panthers Black 1- Capital Truck Blue 1
Our second match of the day was against Capital Truck Blue. This was an
evenly contested match with Capital Truck taking the lead in the first
half. Lisvane heads did not drop although it seemed to panic the guys
forcing them to play some unusually scrappy football. The boys started to
relax and play the level of football expected from them and in the second
half a goal from Daniel Pike brought us level. This was the first time in
three weeks that Lisvane had conceded a goal, but the team showed they character
by fighting back and still being able to play the passing game we know they can
play.
MOM - DANIEL PIKE
Lisvane Panthers 5 - Llanishen Dons 2
Our final game of the day was against Llanishen Dons. Lisvane started well
and put the Dons under pressure and taking an early lead with a goal from
Joshua Caswell who diverted a long range shot from Joshua Moore past the keeper.
The game continued in much the same fashion with Lisvane attacking
the dons at every opportunity, two further goals from Joshua Moore one being
a low driven shot from far on the right flank took the half time score to
3-0. The second half was a different story with the dons scoring two goals
to bring them back into the game, but with a fantastic solo run from Hugo
Souto from defence turned on to his favoured left foot and rifled his goal
past the dons keeper. A tactical substitution toward the end of the game
saw Sebastian Davies take over from Sean Bartlett and score our fifth goal
of the game in Bartlettesque fashion with a shot from distance to beat the
keeper again.

Lisvane Orange 0 - Maindy Corries Red 1
Good match played by both teams. Lisvane controlled the ball during most of the match and really deserved to score on a couple of plain occasions from Joseph Tariz and Gordon Lai. Our defence was this time very good with Owen Dawes playing particularly well. On one isolated chance created by Maindy they scored and despite putting them under a lot of pressure straight after we did not manage to equalise, still well done Panthers!
Lisvane man of the match - Owen Dawes
Lisvane Orange 3 - Thornhill Green 1
Well deserved victory with very good performance displayed by the whole team. Many players should be mentioned in recognition to their good efforts. Faris Talib, Owen Dawes and Luke Perry in defence were very good and Ieaun Wilkins (1 goal) and Joseph Tariz (2 goals) also played a very good match. We dominated the game completely and claimed our first victory after a long time, congratulations.
Lisvane man of the match - Gordon Lai
Lisvane Orange 0 - Radyr Rangers White 1
It is hard to believe we did not win this match but to all credit to Radyr they did not stop working hard too, on the only occasion they had they scored and then manage to hold on until the end. We were very unlucky on countless occasions during the match but sometimes the ball just does not want to get into the net … nothing really to object to the team as the passing, the tackling and the control of the ball was excellent. Alex Maldonado playing his as left midfield possibly played his best match this season.
Lisvane man of the match - Alex Maldonado (Juanma Maldonado)
Lisvane Panthers Under 8 Black
On our last fixtures of the season the black team turned up at Morganstown for our first 9.30am kick off of the season. With two key players away on holiday, the boys seemed keen and up for it as did our loyal band of parental support who quickly made camp on the side line. The weather was fantastic and the pitches although big were in good condition.
RADYR WHITE 1 - LISVANE PANTHERS BLACK 7
Our first match of
today was against a young Radyr white team. Lisvane quickly took control of
the game and dominated the first half. With two neat finishes by striker
Joshua Caswell and fantastic runs from both Joshua Moore in midfield and
Hugo Souto from defence to put the ball in the back of the net. We went into
half time with a 4 - 0 lead. The second half was very much the same with
Lisvane throwing the ball into the Radyr half with attack after attack.
Striker Joshua Caswell scored 3 goals in the second half of the game to take
the score to 7-0 and put pressure on team mate Joshua Moore for the seasons
golden boot award. Radyr salvaged something from the match by scoring a
break away goal with their midfield player taking the ball down the right
flank to put the ball through the keepers legs for a consolation, but well
deserved goal, taking the final score too 7 - 1.
MOM - JOSHUA CASWELL
THORNHILL RED 0 - LISVANE PANTHERS BLACK 10
Our second game of the day was again against a very young Thornhill red team who are getting ready for next season at under 8. Unfortunately they were up against a Lisvane team showing no remorse and firing on all cylinders now. Lisvane quickly took the lead with a goal from Hugo Souto again from a defensive run leaving Thornhill defenders standing in amazement. Quickly followed by a further three from striker Joshua Caswell. The half was sealed by another goal from our central midfield control player Daniel Pike taking the half time score to 5 - 0.The second half was played much in the same manner with the young Thornhill team putting little pressure on a Lisvane team determined to keep them in their own half. The competition was now brewing between Joshua Moore and Joshua Caswell for the golden boot with Joshua Moore scoring 2 goals to keep in contention. The game continued with Hugo Souto scoring a further two goals from his left defence position, despite the fact that some of the Thornhill youngsters deciding the only way to stop him was by attempting to wrestle him to the ground; and a further fantastic strike from Daniel Pike. Taking the final score to 10-0.
MOM - DANIEL PIKE
LLANRUMNEY UTD 0 - LISVANE PANTHERS BLACK 2
The last game of
the season ,thankfully was against a very good LLanrumney team who have
definitely improved over the last season to become one of the tougher
opponents that we have at under 8 level; and we look forward to some tough
games against them at under 9 level next season.Lisvane found it tough to to
break through the Llanrumney defence throughout the game but only with some
fine runs again from Hugo Souto, Joshua Moore and Daniel Pike did we manage
to break the dead lock; our first goal in the first half from striker Joshua
Caswell to take the half time score too 1-0 and take him a goal ahead of
Joshua moore in the goal score race; and an early goal in the second half of
the game form Joshua Moore took the score too 2-0, and draw level in the top
scorer race. With some tacticle substitutions and positional changes( Joshua
Caswell going in goals and Joshua Moore taking a well earned rest) the score
remained at 2-0.
MOM - HUGO SOUTO
With our season drawing to an end, I think it is safe to say it has been a very successful season with the following results:
| played | 58 |
| won | 46 |
| drawn | 9 |
| lost | 3 |
| goals for | 202 |
| goals against | 32 |
I would like to add that it has been a pleasure to watch this group of players improve over the last season, improving their own games and abilities and also the development into the team that they now are .The boys have seemed to have found their own positions within the team and the work rate remains very impressive. We can all look to develop our skills over the coming months including the management team, and with our first season now behind us we can look forward to the next. I hope that the interest from the players remains the same and that the support from our parents continues for the long term.
Many Thanks

Llanedeyrn Bulldogs 2 - Lisvane Panthers 0
Our first match was against Bulldogs to complete what has been a very unsucessful (and to some extent unlucky) series of matches against them. The way the team played I think surprised them as we took control of the game completely, passing the ball with a lot of sense and in a way that very few teams in this category can do. We created sufficient occasions throughout the whole match with Joshua Moore, Gordon Lai, Joseph Aziz and Iain Wilkins shooting from very close range several times, but we faced possibly the best goalkeeper of the league saving all of them. In the last minutes of the match with most of the team attacking we conceded a second goal with much relief for Bulldogs. Very well played boys!
Man of the match - Gordon Lai
Thornhill Athl. 2 - Lisvane Panthers 1
The second match was against a quite young Thornhill Athletic who surprisingly scored twice in the first half. As it has happened in many occasions this season after a good performance we tend to relax too much, hence the score of 2-0 at half time. The second half was totally for Lisvane with countless occasions missed from Lisvane more due to anxiety than anything else. Joshua Moore, Joseph Aziz and specially Iain Wilkins had the best chances to score but the ball just did not to want to go in Thornhill's net. Eventually Joseph managed to score although too late for even getting a draw.
Man of the match - Joseph Aziz
Pentyrch Rangers 1 - Lisvane Panthers 0
Our last match is traditionally always the worse, it seems as if we run out of petrol when we get there!
Even though, once again we should have won this last match of the season and really did not deserve to loose. It is fair to say that Pentyrch looked physically a much bigger team which resulted to be a decisive factor. Alex Boyd played a great match as goalkeeper, making many good and brave saves. The boys gave their best and that is always something to be proud of.
Man of the match - Alex Boyd
Lisvane Panthers Orange U8 - season summary 2005 -2006
The season is over and we can only talk wonders of the players. They have worked hard, they have played with passion, they have given their best and I hope they have enjoyed it as much as I have.
The final figures for the season are shown below:
| Victories | 12 |
| Draws | 5 |
| Lost | 29 |
| Goals for | 39 |
| Goals against | 89 |
The reality of the team is much brighter than the final figures reflect. We lost many games at the beginning of the season when we were just starting to get to grips with the game, however we kept working hard and the first victories came with the new year. We should also point out that we lost many games by a small margin, we are confident that next year these close matches will turn into victories for us. We are now in a very good position to enjoy next season with a strong group of players that still can grow in many aspects both individually and as a team.
Our parents have also been fantastic throughout the season, supporting the team continuously week in week out, with a lot of enthusiasm and always creating a very positive atmosphere during the matches which definitely has contributed to the success of the boys.
Many thanks to all players and parents for your efforts and support for the coaches and many congratulations for this year too...the best is still to come next season!
