Lisvane Panthers Under 10's 2005/06
Third year of Mini Football.
The Panthers have two teams at Under 10 level - The U10's Blue and the U10's Red.
Under 10 Red
Managers: Paul Abbandonato, Greg Pescott, Dave Robinson and Gareth JamesThe under-10 Reds had another good season, with every player noticeably improving again as the year went on.
Two newcomers joined the team, Jordan Leamen and William Lai, and they each fitted in straight away with the ethos and spirit of the team. Both did really well and were each contenders for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.
Some of the skill levels and goals of the boys were terrific. Joseph Williams, Ben Abbandonato and Connor Smith each had excellent seasons with their splendid technique, tricks, pace, energy, drive and clear love of the game.
Luke Pescott, Matthew Edwards and Owain Griffiths were excellent team players, always consistent and willing to play in whatever position we asked.
Jonathan James, we reckon, again proved himself to be as good as any goalkeeper at this level. Jacob Smith, Daniel Harris and Morgan Robinson did well in defence, Jos Megi and Max Cliffe played in a variety of positions and never let the team down.
The highlight of the year probably came right at the end when we sent a side to the Pentyrch tournament, reached the final and unluckily lost it to Marlboro Sports after leading for most of the game.
The team emerged unbeaten through a really tough group and in the semi-finals held their nerve brilliantly to win a penalty shoot-out against Danescourt which was heart-stopping... not so much for the players, but for the watching parents and coaches!
Even parents of other teams, who were watching, commented on the tenseness of it afterwards.
Well done to the players, though, and the obvious joy they displayed at winning that penalty shoot-out was one of the celebrations of the season.
To conclude, congratulations to everyone involved. Here's to another improvement next season.
Under 10 blue
Managers: Joe McLaughlin and Graham MorganIt has been a bit of a mixed season with more than the usual number of matches cancelled or not allocated due to the lack of pitches particularly in the early part of the season. Our football was a bit like the weather with up and down performances throughout the season although on the whole the statistics look pretty good with 55 played of which 29 wins, 17 draws and 9 lost.
We played some excellent passing football early on in the season but as the other teams improved during the season we found it difficult to impose and our passing game suffered. During the season some of our players improved considerably. The defenders in particular have made great advances in positional and tactical play, with good tackling and covering for each other.
Next season is our last in mini football before we move into the 11 a side competitive league but with the enthusiasm of the boys (all still turning up for training in June) we look forward to making significant improvements in our team play next year.
A big thank you to Graham and Arthur for their dedicated help through the year and also to Ian Dobie for helping out at training and stepping in to manage when neither Graham or myself were available.
Congratulations to Rhys Wood and Joe Hill who qualified for the FAW Cardiff Academy and have established themselves as key players on the Academy team.

Saturday 24th September 2005 Lisvane Panthers Under 10 Blue
Our first match today was against Marlborough, Lisvane conceded an early goal in the first half, Adam and Daniel did some great defending keeping the ball away from the danger zone, Steven had a few scary moments in goal, but managed some good saves to stop Marlborough increasing their lead. Rhys and Nathan each scored a goal making it a 2-1 win to Panthers.
The 2nd match today we met Llanedeyrn , again Panthers showed us what a strong side they are passing and defending well, a quiet half for Jacob in goals. Lisvane dominated most of this game, needless to say another win for Panthers Harry scoring 1 and Nathan is on a roll with another 2 goals.
The last match against Llanrumney, again a victory for Panthers with some great football from all the boys. Luke, Joe and Steven playing midfield, a lovely ball was played down the wing by Luke which was picked up by Nathan who again put it in the back of the net. The 2nd goal came from a lovely cross finished by Harry, the 3rd a header from Rhys and the 4th was a complete fluke from Rhys but the end result was a goal!
Well done boys good football all round winning all 3 matches
Goal scorers this week were Harry 3, Nathan 3 and Rhys 3
WELL DONE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

The Lisvane goal came from a good move that ended with the Thornhill defender putting it through his own net, this was enough to win the game, considering the muddy conditions on the pitch all four teams deserve credit.

Lisvane Panthers Under 10 Blue
Venue: Greenway Road
Full credit must be given to the boys who turned up today despite bitterly cold conditions. As there were only two teams who turned up a decision was made to play four ten minute halves, a disappointing performance overall from the Lisvane boys, Kyle and Daniel played well in defence. Marlborough went on to win 3 - 1 Jacob scoring panthers only goal.
