Lisvane Panthers Under 16A - 2009/10 Cup Winners
I'd just like to pass on my congratulations to the U16A team who won the W Headon (U16 Divisional) Cup at Taffs Well's ground.
Anyone who attended the match, will testify it was a close affair with a nail-biting finish.
The Panthers opened the scoring and maintained a lead for a long time. However, a strong Fairwater Juniors side claimed a just equaliser in what was a tight game.
It remained 1-1 after extra time so the game was decided on penalties, with the Lisvane keeper performing magnificently to shut out the Fairwater side.
The game was played in a wonderful spirit, with lots of passion, commitment and skill on show, yet I don't think there was a single caution.
Under a blistering sun, for over 100 minutes, the officials kept the game flowing and well under control.
Captain Ryan Jenkins receives the cup
The conduct of the players is testament to the management teams of both sides and I'm sure that we, as a club, would like to extend our congratulations to all those involved with both teams - managers, coaches, spectators and players.
I'd like to especially thank Dave Williams and Jon Bould for their efforts in shaping this team over the last 9 years. You've produced an excellent footballing side and the boys' behaviour is a credit to our club. Well done to you both and let's hope you put aside thoughts of Saturday morning lie-ins and DIY and coach the boys to similar success in the Youth Cup over the next couple of seasons!

Arthur Palfrey, Club President
A message from our president, Arthur Palfrey
Well once again all our fixtures have been fulfilled, despite many cancellations due to bad weather.
Unlike so many highly paid professionals whose conduct, as role models, leaves much to be desired, I am always delighted and well pleased with the sportsmanship demonstrated by our players and encouraged by our managers, coaches and family members who support the teams.
Our teams enter the field of play with a natural enthusiasm to enjoy the game, and to win, if possible.
Sometimes this is not an easy task when they encounter ‘win at all costs’ opponents and biased adults who should know better.
However, our players never let us down with their attitude to the game.
My congratulations go to those teams that have done well throughout the season, both in League and Cup competitions.
My very best wishes go to our less successful squads, along with the advice to increase your skills, and to be loyal to your team-mates, to your coaches and your managers.
As ‘Arthur’, I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to our managers that are ‘retiring’ after years of loyalty to their teams and to Lisvane Panthers.
Age has caught up with me, and at 85 years, I am well aware that my viewing of games has become increasingly difficult.
As my main role and function as an ‘active coach’ has reached full circle – after some 67 years – I look back on the many thousands of footballers I have coached, with humility and pride.
In closing, I must thank all managers and coaches for their input into Lisvane Panthers and for the many ways in which they keep their eye on my welfare.
Up the Panthers! Thank you,
Arthur Palfrey
